Black people been knew this. Many folks in the south are holding onto the journals of slaves. We learned that at the Whitney Plantation. Some white people even hope that reparations happens here because they want to produce the ownership papers their ancestors passed down (knowing some of the enslaved were the products of rape) and try and get their cut. ESPECIALLY in areas like central and Cajun Country Louisiana

I just saw this on Reddit. This is another reason on a very long list of reasons why racism will not die. The newer generations are holding onto disturbing relics from Jim Crow with pride.

@LRNROSE The way people treat kids is ultimately a sickening power fantasy. They have power over these young and impressionable kids and they get to project their own pain from their childhood onto their kids, furthering the cycle and giving them the power that they didn't have as kids
