Is @render / @renderstatus having an outage? Two of my postgres databases seem to have gone AWOL.
English

@BMO hey! I'm too dumb to learn how to use your website to send feedback. The past few months I have been helping my parents, who bank at BMO
Raegan in downtown Kitchener (operator 025, transit 0024) is consistently a joy to deal with, cheerful & competent.
English

@rooke I appreciate the concern! I've long since given up on protecting my address, though. :)

Jenn and I have an abandoned bank balance in the state of Washington.
Occasionally, I try to use the state's Unclaimed Property website to recover this money: ucp.dor.wa.gov
English

@jasonbaumgartne Heh, I checked my notifications.
I see I have this follower request... From my wife. Who follows me.

English

@radleybalko Oh, wild. I see it if I search for mentions of Bruce's handle, I don't see it in the tweet replies.
Another option: eventually consistent data stores and replication processes are struggling. What I see in Ontario may differ from what you see in Tennessee.
English

@colmmacc Huh, I hadn't realized that 01:59:60 was a valid time.
Does that mean my snark about how Google Sheets parses 24:00 is potentially misplaced, too?
English

One of my favorite leap second bugs is looking for regexes and string parsers that can't handle "01:59:60" as a valid date. Another is when software uses "now() + N-days" to compute an expiry time. So much fun.

@jasonbaumgartne @aurynn @krisnova (And disclaimer: I don't know either of these people, they just seemed like competent people when I was looking for an instance to join.)
English

@jasonbaumgartne @aurynn @krisnova Hachyderm _does_ seem to be looking for a longer term/bigger host: hackmd.io/qrR8obReTlaHkQ…
But I'm not sure if that's in line with what you're thinking
English

@jasonbaumgartne @aurynn @krisnova Kris isn't on Twitter any longer, so you'd have to email her / find her on Mastodon.
The bandwidth seems surprising -- 750 GB/day for 6,000 users -- seems kinda high!
English

@jasonbaumgartne @aurynn runs a small (~150 users) Mastodon in NZ and might have some ideas.
@krisnova runs a medium (~6K users) Mastodon in US. She wrote a bit about the infra here: @kris-nova/hachyderm-infrastructure-74f518bc7472" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@kris-nova/hac…
The stack seems a bit clunky - you might have to actually host an instance to help out.

@ByrneHobart @JonathanShafter Other companies with fully-staffed teams have had long outages:
- Facebook: 7 hours
- Reddit: 15 hours
- Roblox: 72 hours
- Atlassian: 14 days (wtf)
It's unlikely Twitter goes down. But possible. And if it's an outage that results in a cold start problem, they're in a bad place
English

@JonathanShafter If I can't log in, tweet, or view my timeline for a week straight, I'll probably leave forever. Maybe I'll become a LinkedIn Influencer instead. So that's "die" from my point of view.
