the woman of harvey specterโs dreams, bathed in sunlight and warmth. angelic in white, with harveyโs initials on her. so angelic in fact, that this is one of the rare times on the entire show that we see donna without nail polish.

@Utopia1975enX Itโs also one of my favorite seasons! Tbh, I still find one or two episodes boring, maybe bcs the cases arenโt as intense, but her growth makes it worth rewatching, especially after everything she went through in season 7. And Harveyโs growth just makes it the cherry on top.

@codabridge And he is a textbook narcissist! Not only because his childhood trauma, he was selfish, self centered, controlling, manipulative, transactional. He could be a vulnerable narcissist but no less one. And he did need Donnaโs attention and devotion. Paula saw right through it.

@codabridge A good therapist would have really helped Donna with her attachment to Donna and her mother. Paula not only got distracted but she never really addressed Harveyโs attachment to Donna

@Utopia1975enX Iโm starting to see why you call him a narcissist. His version of โsafeโ is tied to his egoโs sense of control, and he tried to apply it to a relationship which, unsurprisingly, doesnโt work that way. Losing that control was actual โsacrificeโ, not whatever he called it. CMIIW ๐๐ป

@codabridge That is why narcissists almost always are cheaters. They didnโt separate from their mothers in a healthy way, and they donโt want to make the decision of growing up, of sorting those attachments. So Paula offered something but Donna offered something else. And he had to choose.

When you say โsafe,โ you mean that Harvey thought control and stability with Paula = safe, but in your view that wasnโt actually real safety, because real safety is being able to sit with fear while in love.

I agree with you. Harvey shouldโve learned that for a long time Donnaโs boundaries were assumed rather than respected by him. And Donna should make it obvious to him now that sheโs prioritizing herself

@codabridge betrayed Harvey, not because of vengeance but because Harvey needed to know that she was capable and needed to face that fear too and Donna needed to feel that strength of choosing herself and putting her needs over him, too. So in my head it all makes perfect sense.
