A new framework setting out future plans for parks, greenspaces and other public open spaces was approved at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, 20 January. The East Lothian Open Space Strategy 2026 reviewed their quality, quantity and accessibility. More info: orlo.uk/TJyhj

An extra sign-up window for our 2025/26 garden waste collection service will open on Mon, 2 Feb and run for two weeks. Permit applications can be made using a myeastlothian account on our website until the window closes at 4pm on Mon, 16 Feb. More info: orlo.uk/GnMeY

Our #HealthWalks are a great way to get more active - and there's probably one going on near you. Walks are short, social, low-level and led by trained volunteer Walk Leaders, so why not find your nearest walk below.

Our recycling centres at Dunbar, Kinwegar and North Berwick will each close temporarily for a short period while essential vehicle-mounted crane operations are carried out between Monday and Tuesday (19 and 20 January). We anticipate each closure lasting around 30 minutes.

East Lothian secondary pupils are to receive individual Chromebooks for learning in school and at home. The numbers of devices in primary schools is also set to increase. The move will increase access to technology, digital literacy and skills. More: orlo.uk/3QKyW
