A high-level team of AIIMS, Bhopal consisting of Prof. (Dr.) Madhabananda Kar, Executive Director; Shri S. K. Jain, Dy. Director (Admin); and Dr. Rajnish Joshi, Dean (Academics) visited Malanjkhand Copper Project on 1-2 May 2026. The team was welcomed by Shri Nagesh Shenoy, ED & Unit Head, MCP. Initially, in a meeting with the officials of MCP Hospital, CSR, and HR Departments, the AIIMS team was briefed about mining and CSR activities of MCP. Then, the team visited MCP Hospital and witnessed all the facilities therein. It was followed by their visit, along with few officers of MCP, to Borkheda village where they interacted with the villagers, Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, Director (Operations) & Director (Mining) – Addl Charge, along with Mr Umesh Singh, ED (Mining) Corporate Office met Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Director (TexMin Foundation) on 30.04.2026 to deliberate on the upcoming projects of HCL. The interaction focused on exploring avenues for collaboration in advanced mining practices, technology integration, and capacity building to support HCL’s future project requirements. Emphasis was laid on leveraging institutional expertise to enhance operational efficiency and adopt best practices in mine planning and execution. During the visit, Dr. Sinha also toured the training centres of TexMin associated with Mine Planning sections. Detailed discussions were held on the specialized training modules being offered, with particular attention to their relevance for skill enhancement of HCL officers. The possibility of structured engagement of HCL personnel in these training programs was explored to facilitate knowledge upgradation and value addition in mining operations. Under the initiative of the 100-day dedicated program of the "TB Mukt Bharat Campaign", a TB screening camp was organized in the Mining area and Administrative Building of Khetri Copper Complex ( KCC) Hindustan Copper Limited, Rajasthan. More than 100 mining and surface employees were screened for Tuberculosis using an AI-enabled portable X-ray machine. They were also screened for Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension. The program was graced by Mr Ghanshyam Das Gupta, Unit Head & Executive Director, KCC; Dr. Deepika Khurana (CMO, KCC Hospital); Dr. Harish Yadav (BCMO, Khetri); Dr. Rajneesh Kumar (SMO); along with the medical staff of KCC Hospital and the State Medical & Health Department. Haathi Park at KCC Township was inaugurated formally on 22.02.2026 by Mr G D Gupta, ED and Unit Head, Khetri Copper Complex (KCC), in the presence of Mr Sanjay Shivdarshi, GM (Admin)-HR, Mr Manish Gavai, DGM (Civil), Mr Vipin Kumar Sharma, DGM (HR)-Admin, KCC, Sarpanch-Gothra Tehsil, employees and local residents of KCC Township. Haathi Park at KCC Township is a special community playground park developed under Special Campaign using scrap and unutilized items from KCC mines and plant. The park includes a big elephant ,Joker, swings, slides, pathways, exercise equipment and trash cans—all fabricated from repurposed materials to serve children and local residents. The materials used were salvaged metal, timber offcuts, discarded pipes, rope, iron rods, pillars and other non-functional plant and mine items were cleaned, treated, and reworked into play structures. The park also involved the cooperation of local people in its construction. Involving the reuse of scrap and other waste items in park construction not only has resulted in waste reduction but has also resulted in community amenity creation, and demonstrating a scalable best practice for public sector units. This approach aligns with the Special Campaign emphasis on disposal and productive reuse of obsolete materials and on showcasing best practices that improve local living standards.
