A big part of the problem is that the current BB101 guidelines for classrooms state that air quality is fine if the *average* CO2 level between 9am-4pm remains below 1,500ppm, including times when the classroom is unoccupied.
These guidelines are outdated and inadequate.

A parent offering a simple unobtrusive device to improve indoor air quality in EVERY CLASSROOM in a secondary school which has demonstrably appalling ventilation (CO2 peaking at over 3,000ppm most days)…
…and her offer is REJECTED.

@drseanmullen We twice offered to buy HEPAs for every class in kid’s 1000 pupil secondary school. Would have cost over half my salary but willing to put my money where my mouth is. Turned down without a word of thanks. They also confiscated 12yo’s co2 monitor when we showed them the readings.

@AmandaPritchard @GwynneMP It’s difficult to put into words how hard it is to comprehend why recommendations from the Covid Inquiry are not being put into practice NOW.
Most of these viruses are AIRBORNE, yet there are still no airborne infection prevention measures to protect staff and patients.

@1goodtern I think most people would just shrug and say “ah well, it’s just a cold”…
…because the simple truth is that most people have no clue that Covid infections even cause neurological effects.
It’s yet another aspect of Covid which has been brushed under the carpet and covered up.

Back in mid 2020 I offered to source and fund air filters for every classroom in our kids' schools. The school told me that it would prevent the children from getting the essential infections they needed to catch as children. That was the point at which I knew we were doomed.

Cleaning the air with HEPA filters is such a simple, inexpensive & non-intrusive measure which can significantly reduce the spread of illness & exposure to indoor air pollution.
There should be one in EVERY classroom & hospital room.
