Fascinating to see Amazon use a down chevron icon as their “Secure checkout” affordance. It triggers a popover, not expand-collapse functionality as you might think. Perhaps it was more readily understood as “there’s an action here” than something like an information icon?

With all the typographic control in CSS, is it even possible to love CSS and not have a fondness for typography?

The amount of apps that remind me I have notifications turned off, and try to pressure to me to turn them on, is absurd. They pop up banners to nudge me. They take up screen real estate to annoy me. Respecting user preferences is a lost art.

That’s to say nothing of non-visual experiences such as those with a screen reader. Vertical height means nothing.

Say it with me: you can’t predict how someone is browsing a web page. The idea of pushing back on something due to it adding “vertical height” carries little weight. Zoom level, text size, viewport size, and orientation all impact how much available space there is.

Plan to do a certain activity only on a rainy day. You reframe your idea of a rainy day being a limiting factor to one where you’re excited to do something you otherwise wouldn’t get to.
