ADS developers should be responsible for the driving behaviors of their vehicles. They won't become *better* drivers if we let them off the hook. To accomplish this, our laws should acknowledge them *as the driver* so we can hold them accountable for driving related errors.

Cruise, and everyone else in the AV industry, is lobbying to write rules that allow them to avoid responsibility for *driving* an automated vehicle. If we crash into a bus, we get a ticket or face a claim for negligent driving. Cruise is fighting to avoid this responsibility.

On March 23, Cruise committed a "driving" error and crashed into the back of a city bus in San Francisco. On April 4, Cruises CEO blamed car crashes on "human" error. This is deeply disingenuous doublespeak. Let me show you why. 🧵
