@TanDhesi They are coming for your fucking giant knives that you carry around town that can very clearly be used to kill innocent people. If you want to live in a multicultural society, you have to make some sacrifices. So no, they won't "be coming for you"

I was born and raised here. Countless brave Sikh soldiers died for Britain, proudly wearing their turban and kirpan. Thankfully, Rupert and Restore don't get to decide what is British. Beware … today they’re coming for me, but tomorrow it could be you!
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10

A Labour MP, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, has attacked Restore Britain in Parliament for our push to get the Kirpan banned in public spaces. Under a Restore Britain Government, all will be equal. Un-British religious practices will not be tolerated or accepted. Enough is enough.

Every man saying this is has the mindset of a rapist and an incel. Not only are you completely illiterate and incompetent when it comes to analyzing media, you also are likely the problem in every single relationship you have ever been in and every will be in. I can only pray that no woman ever again has that misfortune!!

@mikromangorine It's multiple things. He is raping the original her, but he's absolutely not raping the "new her" that took over the body. That new her is also a person, and their behaviour can be very parallel to untreated BPD. There can be multiple layers here.

@minordissent The difference is that this is literally true for children, and just a made up misogynist premise for women, who are, or at least should be treated as, fully functional adults.

Human beings learn through three modes: 1) pleasure and pain 2) honor and shame 3) reason Women have undeveloped reason. Due to a lack of experience and thinking power, they struggle to follow a premise through a chain of reasoning to a conclusion. Women are responsive to honor and shame but not perfectly so. They are often shameless. Women will, in the absence of instruction, engage in emotional outbursts, insist on their own will, lash out verbally when they don't get their way, and completely disregard the long term effects of their actions. They do this not because they are evil but because they are ignorant. They don't have a developed theory of mind for the future, and their passions and desire for social validation govern their conduct to a very high degree. It is difficult for a woman to understand even the passing of time, much less the importance of deferring comfort. For all these reasons, women need men to guide them through their early marriage. The man's reason substitutes for the woman's deficiency. The purpose of the man's authority is to protect the life of the woman from harm while cultivating the woman's mind until she can reach the age of wisdom. During this time, and especially in the early marriage, women require firm boundaries and a clear hierarchy of authority. They need this for their physical safety and for the maintenance of an orderly and structured home. The use of physical pain is one of the clearest and most effective ways of establishing this authority. Pain is sharp and decisive. It does not require the woman to understand things she finds unintelligible. Nor does it depend on her undeveloped sense of reason or capacity for second order effects (which is weak). It is not necessary that a woman understand what an illegal immigrant will do to a human body to know that she gets a sharp rap on the wrist every time she votes blue. Pain is a powerful and important teacher. A judicious husband should use this tool. A few crucial boundaries: Husbands should never hit their wives in anger. They should never berate or insult her. Spanking is not an "outlet" for the man's emotions. Each use of physical punishment should come with a careful explanation of why this punishment was necessary and a reminder that the woman is loved, that the discipline comes from a place of care for her. The purpose of all husbandry, again, is to raise the wife to independent thought, to the use of her own reason. The end goal of all discipline by the husband is to one day come to a place of friendship and equality with the adult female.

For all these reasons, children need parents to guide them through their early youth. The parent's reason substitutes for the child's deficiency. The purpose of the parent's authority is to protect the body of the child from harm while cultivating the child's mind until he can reach the age of freedom. It is not necessary that a child understand what a speeding vehicle will do to a human body to know that they get a sharp rap on the wrist every time they run towards a busy street. Pain is a powerful and important teacher. A judicious parent should use this tool. A few crucial boundaries: parents should never hit a child in anger. They should never berate or insult the child. 1. Smart people are often, if not usually, very irrational. I grew up with a mid-140s-IQ-tested dad who believed in Biblical literalism. Intelligence is just a powerful engine, it says very little about your ability to steer. 2. Most prestige in our civilization is built around powerful engines. You get good test scores, pass hard classes, you are 'smart', and we stamp you with phDs and titles like Economist or whatever. 3. (Having well-rounded skills can help but does not save you. You can be a charming top-tier artist who still falls for a crypto scam). 4. Our civilization has very little explicit study into being *rational* - which is, imo, something like 'holding true beliefs'. You might be like 'well 'true' is relative', it's people just disagreeing about values all the way down - but I think this is wrong! There *is* such a thing as 'correct' - you can do things like cure cancer or lift people out of poverty, those are real things! 5. If we want to optimize for people steering in correct directions, we might do things like "have them make predictions about the way things will go, and then track how accurate they are." We might force them to "make beliefs pay rent", where you regularly put your beliefs into positions with high stakes so you can't just conveniently 'not notice' when you're wrong. There's a *ton* of stuff to do in this domain that is completely abandoned by people in academia (though you can find it in stuff like investment funds where they actually end up hurting if they're wrong). 5. When I say smart *and* rational, I mean people who are very good at steering in correct directions, with enough power to get there. I don't think most people in this culture even have a conception of these as meaningfully different!
Aella@Aella_Girl

If all the smartest+most rational ppl got their own civilization on it would be LEAGUES better than this one, just more functional in ways we can't even imagine, and like 90% of it would be downstream of their ability to understand incentives and ripple effects

@LordofCinder24 Sadly you're right about most of the invaders being meta dogshit, but you can be the change you want to see. I was only ever invading as creative or cosplay or off meta builds, and always dry fingered, and still won 95% or so of encounters.

@LordofCinder24 It sounds like you were bad at ds1 and it sounds like you were predictable or used a reactable parryable weapon in ds3. ds1 netcode is not great, but backstabs were punishes for being out of place. And ghost hits solve turtling, so you should play PTDE.

There is nothing fun about DS1 invasions when it's pretty much just 5 minutes of you and another guy holding a shield up waiting for that bad netcode to come in until you can lag stab. There's not much fun to be had in DS3 when you get invaded by someone with the Cathedral Knight armor, caestus in left hand, and whatever of the 500 weapons they want to choose from because they'll run from you and hardswap and turn the fight into a rock, paper, scissors. It's boring. It's all around lame.

@Unbiased_magus I didn't really see how Geralt ended up being more than his archetype, but Olgierd was reduced to his archetype. I feel like we'll end up still disagreeing, but it was nice trying to figure out our differences and talking. See you later!

@darezzi Thats derivative, I’m nt saying to reinvent the “human wheel” and redefine reality lol. All characters created are based on something but there is a line beyond which u can make them unique. Be it setting, visuals, story. Be it just “lilac and gooseberries”. Olgierd fails in this

@Unbiased_magus I see what you mean there, but I could throw geralt into an archetype too, "nihilistic lone wolf until he answers the call to heroism", I feel also that his uniqueness is in his specific personality and character, and less that he invents a new archetype

@darezzi But did they really? I mean they did a good enough model surely. But at base level I mean…you prob have folklore that you can write a character right? Also thats the difference I am sayin, Geralt for example is unique. Yenn and Ciri too. U wont find them anywhere else

@Unbiased_magus Sure, but I feel like it's a bit difficult & not required to invent entire new archetypes. Again, I think it's unfair of you to say they just took something that already existed and gameified it, when they had to do so much original writing work, even if the archetypes were there

@darezzi Maybe I am too critical, when I pick up something I try to pick it apart. Olgierd to me was the 100th iteration of “pact with the devil”, well enough written? Sure. Still something any average writter would be able to write. As I said CDPR recreates well, they dont create

@Unbiased_magus You're not really listening man, you're talking about very basic high level ideas, but imo the part that's easy to fuck up and difficult to nail are the raw lines that are said and how they are said.

@darezzi Fanboys are ridiculous. They literally copied on the moon part. Yeah how original his wishes were money, immortality and careless living and the devil wanted his souls. Wow. Such thing has never been written before. If I copied legends from my ppl I could write 100 Olgierds

@Unbiased_magus "Based on" you know someone actually has to write the character, write? To decide on their motivations, their inflection, their personality, how they respond to things and so on? It's not "Hey AI cook up a dude based on this story" and you get something compelling?

@darezzi They did coast a lot, post Kaer Morhen is abyssmal fall. R you really saying Olgierd/O’Dimm are better than Geralt? Like if this is ur baseline there is no point. Olgierd btw is literally the eastern Faust/Aladin based on polish legend of Pan Twardowski. You know “on the moon”:)

@Unbiased_magus Geralt is done well of course, but Gaunter o'Dimm and especially Olgierd were absolutely fantastic. Peak of the game imo in terms of writing. All I'm saying is that CDPR is absolutely capable of their own creative work being compelling, it's insulting to say they coasted.

@darezzi Nah yours gotta be bait like are you for real? The best characters in W3 are beyond discussion the og Sapkowski written ones. Like Geralt/Yenn/Ciri alone overshadow the rest. Be for real. Bringing something into mainstream means nothing on the value, ppl loved it bcs its so good
