It’s officially June and the mad selection of new sets has been released, including this giant Lord of the Rings mammoth! Did you get through the wait screen & secure Minas Tirith? I know I did!!

Nope. He will unfortunately pass on before we ever get the next novel never mind the end to the story. He spent too much time on other things and I genuinely believe the ending from the TV show was what he wrote for the DD’s. It went badly, everyone hated it and he’s spent the last 7 years making up a new ending for the main storyline which has messed his timeline up and all the other threads he was weaving!

George R.R. Martin, in an April 2025 interview, on the book that has now been delayed for 15 years with no release date, no cover, no pre-order, and no confirmed finished manuscript: "That's the curse of my life. There's no doubt Winds of Winter is 13 years late. I'm still working on it. I have periods where I make progress and then other things divert my attention and suddenly I have a deadline for one of the HBO shows, I have something else to do." He called it a curse. His publisher shut down 2026 release rumors. He has 1,100 pages written and says he still has hundreds more to go. Is GRRM ever finishing this book?
