Today is my Day 0 of #buildinpublic and I have 1 year to make it or break it 🔥 3 years ago I landed in Tokyo with nothing but a backpack and my employment contract. No connections. Completely alone. But after countless oncall nights at work and studying Japanese every single day... I finally applied for Permanent Residency!!!! 🇯🇵 It takes 1 year for the results to arrive. But getting it would mean true freedom, no longer tied to an employer. And the chance to finally chase my lifelong dream: traveling through all 47 prefectures of Japan while working on my own apps. So until then, I need to prove to myself that I can turn my projects into something real that people will want to use (and pay for). Incidentally, this week @jackfriks and @marclou launched @shipordie_ , and it really felt like the universe telling me to stop overthinking and start shipping already. So now's the moment. The projects I'm building are aimed at Japanese audiences, so I'll be sharing what happens when marketing to a completely different culture from what you usually see on English Twitter. I'll also share cool cafes, coworking spaces, and bits of my life here ☕️ (if you visit, hit me up for a coffee!) This journey starts now. Whatever happens, I'm ready for it 🙂 Time to build, crew!!!

Thank you for the feedback!! The screenshot thing was an oversight, oops. Also auth exists but is not required. Only if you want to sync expenses between multiple devices more easily, then you can sign up to link then to your account. The basic idea is "if you have the link, you have access" Nobody likes asking your friend to sign up, download an app, and do 10 other unrelated steps just so they can see how much they have to pay (*cough* Splitwise*cough*)

@davafons This is very cool. Great site design. One thing that would be neat is when you switch to dark mode on the website, it displays the screenshots of the app in dark mode. Does the app use any auth at all?

Making this logo is one of my proudest moments ever in my career 🐦🥝 I knew to compete in japanese market I needed a mascot. Something that anchors the whole brand identity. I spent a full week back and forth on this design, completely stuck. Then I flew to New Zealand for a vacation, saw the kiwi bird, and everything clicked instantly. Funny how inspiration hits you from the most unexpected places 😂 After years of backend work, doing creative and visual work feels incredible

I found LandingBoost right when I was struggling to make the landing page for wariwari. I thought my landing page was somewhat ready, but decided to run an analysis just in case and got... a score of 61 (not very high 😅) Turns out I had put all my focus on shouting "see how cool my product is!!" But I had almost no proof for users to believe and trust me on these claims. A few changes later, the hero section now feels much stronger and I sure it will turn into better user conversion. Already worth having invested on it 🙂 Also @yusukelp himself is an incredible person! When he saw I was working on a product for the japanese market, he took the time to also write me some personalized feedback and marketing advice. People like him is what every community needs, thank you for all your work!!!!! 🔥

Am I just dumb and I don't understand SEO, or is there something I'm not seeing here? 1) I want to rank for 割り勘​アプリ (bill-splitting app) for my project wariwari 2) Checked ahrefs. Search volume and keyword relevance seems to be good 3) And word difficulty is... just 1? It says "~2 ref. domains to rank in top 10" 4) Does it mean that if I add the keyword in my title/h1, let Google index it, and add a few backlinks to my landing page from other relevant pages, I'll start ranking high on that search? Is it just that? What am I missing here?

Hey Dav, Your consistency streak is super. 67 days streak doesn't come only with motivation but also needs a lot more. I have built Vigilante, which only checks public commit metadata to see if you commit today and lets you share it on X or LinkedIn in a single click. Would you like to try it?

wariwari is officially live!!!!!!! A few months ago I was just a simple Backend Engineer, without much knowledge about webdev. But for the first time in my life I have designed, produced, coded and launched a web of my own 😊 I got this domain last year, and the project had been in the back of my head since forever. But I always found excuses to never commit. Too busy with 9-5. Too busy with life. Also I knew my design and UI skills were lacking, and even today I'm still far from ready. But I think in the end I was just scared of putting myself in front of the public. So that's why I really have to thank @jackfriks and @marclou for the @shipordie_ community. Just in the past 10 days I've done more work than in the last 2 months!!! And this project wouldn't have launched without their help. Honestly, it was hard. But I know for sure I would do it again 🔥 Never stop building!!
