@GJecology @paul33606 You timed it well! The last few weeks have pulled in a pretty decent selection of birds, and then the weather today was good for viewing. Almost warm in the sunshine at times... which is a rarity for Abberton in itself!

@dbradnum @paul33606 Hi David, yes that was us. My first visit to Abberton & Copt Hall, great birding at both though we couldn’t find the GGS. Will definitely be back 👍🏽

Dear followers, I never post anything here other than nature news, but this is one exception for a very important reason. My wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer this year, & our son is looking to raise money for charity. Please help if you can 🙏💔 fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/kierans-g…

A most enjoyable afternoon spent with the Winterton Asian Desert Warbler. My first in the UK for 30 years. And I mooted to @dbradnum only last weekend that we were due one with these easterlies... So I enjoyed waking him (and @beardybirder @iPterodroma) up with the news...

Sad to pass on news that London birder and Scilly regular Sean Huggins has died. Sean was Middlesex recorder for many years and sat on the London Rarities Committee. We’ve been friends since we trained together as journalists and I will miss him. @LondonBirdClub #londonbirds

Public service announcement ahead of #Migfest24 (last yr known as #Digfest): Digger will not be attending this year's event. He is on holiday birding the Suffolk coast with @suffolkbirder. He is sad to be missing his friends but enjoying a more low-key Border Collie environment.

Nice to see the Canvasback on the causeway at Abberton yesterday. You can clearly see the differences from the Pochards around it. Some debate whether its the returning drake from last year or a 1st summer juvenile from the continent. Views welcome!

@Luscinia61 I was pretty surprised when 4 PBBrents went underneath us at PG yesterday morning too! Feels incredibly early for them to be back, but gather some have returned to Anglesey as well.

This morning's Gull-billed Tern was a fine, if unexpected, end to my long weekend on Scilly - perhaps more remarkable is that it is sharing Porthcressa Bay with a Pale-bellied Brent Goose!

@MJ_McKee @MwallacepgP Brilliant!! Well done for the lengthy video recording. So pleased both groups got it, recorded it, identified it independently - perfect. Gutted I missed the dancing and waving afterwards though! 😉

@birdingprof Not that I have used it much (yet) but Bluesky should be even better for stumbling across random related posts, since you can follow feeds (eg ukbirding) as well as people. I think it's pretty good, though personally I've fallen out of the habit of posting anything anywhere!
