Voters can verify their polling place at votedouglascounty-ne.gov by entering their address information in the gray “Find Your Voting Information” area on the home page.

Yellow postcards mailed to approx. 34,000 Douglas County voters whose polling place changed for the 5/12/26 Primary Election. Approx. 7% of polling places are affected. Most changes are caused by building utilization changes or scheduling conflicts, which includes construction.

Approx. 63,000 early voting ballots for the Primary Election were mailed 4/6/2026, the first day allowed by law. Voters who requested a by-mail early voting ballot may check the status of their application at votercheck.necvr.ne.gov/voterview.

In accordance w/ Neb Rev Stat § 32-811, the office of Douglas County Sheriff will not appear on Primary Election ballots. Rep Aaron Hanson and Dem Mark Martinez will be automatically nominated to the General Election as each is the political party’s only candidate for the office.

“I welcome the Nebraska Supreme Court’s order as I had determined the language in Nebraska Revised Statutes § 23-1701.01(1)was unclear due to questions raised in the objection to Martinez’s candidate filing,” said Danielle Jensen, Douglas County Election Commissioner.

The Douglas County Election Commission has reinstated Mark Martinez as a candidate for Douglas County Sheriff following the Nebraska Supreme Court order issued on March 18, 2026.

It was announced today that some polling place changes will be implemented for 5/12/26 Primary Election. Polling places are being finalized, but it appears approximately 7% of Douglas County polling places will be affected. Voters impacted will be sent a postcard in April.

Early voting ballot applications for 2026 Primary were mailed 2/4/26 to voters on the Douglas County Early Voting Request List. Voters must complete and sign application and return it to our office before deadline. By-mail voters must meet ID requirements on their application.

Danielle Jensen was officially sworn in as the Douglas County Election Commissioner at a ceremony on January 29, 2026. She is the 20th individual to hold the position since it was created in 1913.

TODAY (1/13/26) is Election Day for the Valley Special City Council Election. All voted ballots must be returned to our office or an open ballot drop box by 5 PM. Today is first business day for Danielle Jensen as new Douglas Co. Election Commissioner. Jensen was appointed by Gov. Jim Pillen to serve the remainder of previous Election Commissioner’s term ending 12/31/27. Brian Kruse presented DCEC office keys to Jensen on his final day.
