@derekdibbern To my own experience, the nonconceptual underlies the imaginal just as it does anything else, but to attend to it directly reveals a uniqueness of existence that cannot be approached by the imagination.

This is a deeply embedded folk theory, that we can absorb "energies" from beyond us to quicken our spiritual development. Faith in the idea as true sets the stage for experiences that appear to confirm it. This is the essence of imaginal spirituality.

@Kalieezchild I sometimes seem to bounce between this “less than real” IMAGINAL spirituality and the “more real” NON-DUAL spirituality, but often the ND just seems like a more subtle form of human imagination. Like no matter what, until we pass from this “Vale of Tears” we won’t really know.

@derekdibbern Not wrong, but also not without some hazard to clarity. IYAM, the concept of enlightenment is filtered through the lens of imaginal spirituality and its effect, mystical experience. In essence, it is "cloaked" in ideas about it that have been generated by this confusion, IMO.

What does ‘free’ mean? Free means being, for one thing. It means being able to outgrow that knee-jerk reflection of what your human society around you wants you to think – and so ‘free’ means thinking for yourself and not accepting every piece of information or opinion heedlessly
