Can there be a standardized way to start emails that quickly expresses "the world is a darker place since we last corresponded & I hope you're as well as can be expected"... or like what if we just replace "I hope this finds you well" with "I hope, etc."
A quick craft study on how to create a world that "feels" speculative from the first page, even before anything decidedly otherworldly has happened. Really grateful to @CraftLiterary for giving this piece a home!

This piece in @CraftLiterary by @devonrhalliday about how language telegraphs genre is great.
Even though it's something you already know, it's cool to see it deconstructed like this.
I'll be thinking about it when I pick up my next sci-fi read.

Thrilled beyond tweets to see this story published by the staggeringly cool @onestorymag... now I know how poets feel when they hold their own chapbook! This was one of my thesis stories at @WarrenWilsonMFA and I'm feeling grateful on all fronts today for all my patient editors

We can't wait for you to join us tonight and tomorrow at our ISSUE 49 READING -- we begin today with poetry and tomorrow our prose reading. See you soon💫
I'm lucky to have 2 pieces coming out this month, both on the subject of unsettling obsessions: flash fiction in @FenceBooks this week, and a short story in @adroitjournal next week!
News! Working on a short story collection this summer at @VCCA as a #vccafellow. Turning these stories into a manuscript feels kind of like sitting on an overpacked suitcase trying to jam the zipper closed
Excited to see my short story "OptiDream" go up @thenormalschool! For anyone who has ever looked at NYC subway ads and felt despair at tech's ceaseless & holistic quest for optimization
