And this leads to something that should be underlined. As Jeni suggests here, the vicious bullying of people about pronouns and authoritarianism are not entirely distinct from the 'being really disgusted by trans poeple' and 'being disgusted by Muslims' and 'being cool with the

far right' issue. (And no, none of that is the same as having 'reasonable concerns.') The warnings we made about the far right were intimately tied up with the authoritarian behaviour and bullying by certain factions, and the two conversations have always weaved out of each

other. Saying 'I don't like Tommy Robinson and think we should keep away from him' was very often greeted with 'you call men she and keep pet troons.' This is all linked together by the politics of intolerance and disgust, and by hostility to basic liberal democratic practice.

The bottom line is this: You cannot convince decent minded people that you have reasonable concerns that should be taken seriously in a democratic society from a position based in the politics of intolerance, disgust and dehumanisation. Nor do you deserve to.

More than 2000 women in England & Wales experience sexual assault or rape EVERY DAY. 2000 rapes are reported weekly. It's accepted that only 1 in 5 rapes is reported. 6000 women are subjected to domestic violence daily in England & Wales. In 2025, police recorded 200,000 sexual offences. I'm not going to apologise for telling you to stop monetising racism under the guise of protecting women. You aren't protecting us from anything but you're getting awfully rich doing it. No wonder you feel the need to say you don't care so often.
