@doubleuteaeff

I rant here. Some of what I say may resonate and some may fall flat. I prefer dialogue to dismissal, so please engage.

@SenateBudget God, this woman makes me sick! Do the same math for how much they get from the SSA compared to their monthly expenses and you’ll see the same percentages.

MURRAY: Is it true that people making under $184k pay a 12.4% Social Security tax rate? DAHL: Yes. MURRAY: And the rate for someone making $1 million? DAHL: 2.2%. MURRAY: So, a 12.4% tax for people making less than $184k, but 2.2% for a millionaire or .0002% for billionaires.

Every dollar earned below $184,500 a year has a Social Security tax of 12.4%. Everything after that cap is exempt. If we lift this cap on the wealthiest earners, Social Security would be fully funded till 2070. The cap should not exist.
ABC News@ABC

The trust funds for Social Security and Medicaid will run out of money in as little as 8 years, a shorter time frame than previously estimated, according to a report issued Wednesday by the programs' trustees. abcnews.link/r5kTy1r

We already have a system of non-universal basic income. It’s called "having wealthy parents." UBI just democratizes that privilege so everyone has the same base-level security to pursue their potential. It's no coincidence that entrepreneurs tend to come from wealthy families.

@ennui365 For you to constantly bitch and moan about capitalism when you either have plenty of money or make enough to live off of by posting on X all day everyday is the height of irony!

@doubleuteaeff @middle_class_us If these people were smart they would have bought cheap, small starter homes. They broke 100k salaries, the mortgage lender offered 400/450k for a home and they fell for the trap. Now their mortgage eats up all their money. The foreclosure Armageddon is already beginning.

$100k used to mean “made it.” Now it means: Careful budgeting. No emergencies. Quiet panic. Progress? Not anymore.

@theficouple That’s a brand new $34,000 car. And credit card debt isn’t a thing. It’s just spending of stuff you can’t afford. Who lives in that $2,400/mo. rental? You alone or with roommates or an employed spouse? Where is this?

I wish more people understood $4 coffees aren’t the problem. It’s the: - $650/mo car payment - $300/mo credit card bill - $1,800/mo daycare - $800/mo student loans - $2,400/mo rent ...This is why most six-figure earners feel broke.

@4TaxFairness Democrats always spend more on elections. Harris spent over a billion dollars in 2024.

NEW: Billionaires are on track to break their $1 BILLION midterm spending record. Just 50 families have already poured $433 MILLION into the 2026 midterm elections. The spending is projected to grow exponentially as November approaches.

@ThumperTruckin @ewarren It’s like no one in Washington understand federal law vs. States rights. The enumerated powers weren’t included in the constitution accidentally.

We should be thinking about universal child care the same way we think about roads and highways: as basic public infrastructure. Investing in universal child care is good for our kids’ development and good for our economy.

@ewarren Tell me where this is permitted in the enumerated powers: taxation, national defense, interstate and foreign commerce, currency, post offices, patents and copyrights, federal courts? Most things are NOT up to the Fed Gov’t, you know.

“Feminists are angry.” Yes. We are. We're angry about pay gaps. Rape culture. Body policing. Name one thing we should be calm about.

It costs $1,500 to $2,500 a month just to have a child in America right now. Daycare alone runs $2,000 a month in most cities. Before food. Before clothes. Before anything else. Then they wonder why birth rates are collapsing. Nobody is avoiding kids because they don't want them. They can't afford them.
