Yep (👋 from Materialize). For some more context you can think of Materialize as a way to compile sql into differential dataflow. Like Aaron mentioned we have some different tradeoffs. We are willing to pay a higher cost to install new views (full hydration, potentially expensive optimization passes, etc). Often Materialize is used to crunch a bunch of data combined from different systems to build canonical views over all of them. That means if you know the shape of your queries ahead of time we can usually make ridiculously fast performance possible. But this doesn't lend itself to the kind of UI devex Zero delivers where you have potentially a lot of different clients installing different and changing views. This is why something like zero and materialize complement each other pretty well actually! (Some internal stuff is powered by them working together)
