A private hospital tried to turn a ₹1,000 kidney stone diagnosis into a ₹20,000 bill. My cousin had severe abdominal pain. USG was done there for ₹1,000. Result: 4–5 mm kidney stone. Problem identified. That should have ended it. Instead, the billing began. Blood samples taken. ₹8,000 worth of tests added: KFT LFT CBC Typhoid Widal and more. Then doctor says: “We need one more diagnosis. Go to the counter.” Counter says: CT scan. Another ₹8,000. I asked why a CT scan was needed when the ultrasound had already confirmed the stone. Reply: “Doctor order.” We walked out. Some hospitals do not stop when they find the illness. They stop when they finish billing. How many people have experienced this?
