Plenty to criticize Wembanyama over, but I’d cut him some slack on his word choice. English isn’t his first language. To me he’s mainly observing that the Spurs kept opening up big leads in every game. And he admits to errors that the Knicks mercilessly punished. A valid point.

@Greg651 That ancestor was later killed along with wife and most of his children in an Indian raid on his homestead in Virginia after the French-Indian War. Two of his boys hid in the cornfields and survived. Perhaps one of the raids complained of by the Declaration of Independence.

@Greg651 Her husband owned a tavern in Philadelphia (with a billiard table). He preceded her in death by about 30 years so we don't know where he is buried. He came to The Hague from the Palatinate.

@Greg651 One of my great-great etc grandmothers was born in Sedan in the Ardennes in France. Married her husband at the French Huguenot church that is still in operation in The Hague, and died in Philadelphia. She is buried in the Christ Church cemetery where Ben Franklin is also buried.

And how did China do that? It wasn’t through “socialism.” That was Mao’s project. The cultural revolution killed tens of millions of Chinese through dumbass collectivism. Then Deng allowed for markets. And boom, hundreds of millions were lifted out of poverty. China held on to command and control politics but introduced limited freedom in economics and did more to alleviate poverty than socialism ever did. But you people envy the authoritarianism and so you lie and propagandize for it. Shame on you.

In my lifetime, China lifted 850 million people out of poverty, while the US created one trillionaire. It is clear as day that socialism is the key to our future.
