The horrifying reality of being a woman, perfectly summarised by @_CaitlinORyan If you give even the slightest shit about women, watch it all. This is what it’s like.

@Paradi5eLibrary I’ve also resorted to a shortened nickname, even though I don’t like it, because repeating my name multiple times, only to hear it mispronounced or worse, be utterly ignored because people don’t want to try, was too exhausting.

Is it irrational how annoyed I get when people pronounce my name wrong, despite correcting them multiple times? I find it so rude that they don’t respect me enough to get it right. No wonder I started to use Mia instead… Anyone else get really worked up about this?

Sadly, the news is true: the next issue of Total Film will be the last. I couldn’t be more proud of the magazine we’ve put out over my near-nine-years on staff, and can’t say enough good things about my colleagues @mattmaytum, @Totalfilm_MattL, @Lauren_M1les and Andy McGregor (and previously @janevgcrowther and @mike_brennan01) – they are brilliant and if you are in a position to commission, hire or work with them it will be the smartest decision you ever make. The same goes for the many (many) exceptional contributors who featured on our pages over the years – far too many to list here. But a special mention for @jamie_graham9, whose columns and writings have been an unfailing joy to read and edit, partly because I didn’t have to change a word the entire time. TF existed for almost two decades before I lucked out and joined the team, and we built our version of the magazine on the shoulders of giants. But I feel confident saying that the mag has rarely been better than it was in recent months, which is why the timing feels especially cruel. The good news is that we’re going out on a high, with an exceptional Gladiator II cover story written by our fearless leader @mattmaytum – more on that later this week. Today was my last day, and I despair for the future of curated long-form film writing. Support it where you can, or you may find it no longer exists sooner than you think.
Total Film@totalfilm

Gladiator II is on the cover of Total Film’s upcoming issue 356, which hits print and digital newsstands on October 10. It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that this will be the final issue of the print magazine. We like to think that this final print edition is a showcase of everything that Total Film magazine strived for, with a thrilling blockbuster on the cover, A-list interviews, fair and impartial reviews, smaller interesting movies nestled alongside the more mainstream fare, and above all else a passion for cinema radiating out of every page. In the cover feature, we’re talking to Ridley Scott, Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington and more about returning to the Colosseum for Gladiator II. From epic set pieces, to Scott’s unique approach to shooting, to Maximus’ legacy, it’s the perfect primer to this autumn’s most anticipated sequel. Print subscribers will receive their issue with an exclusive cover shortly (and our subscriptions team will be in touch shortly to discuss next steps). So for now, it only leaves us to say a huge thank you to all the staff, writers, designers and photographers who made Total Film print magazine what it was over the past 27 years. And we’d also like to express our endless gratitude to everyone who has read, subscribed to or otherwise supported the magazine. While the magazine itself is going away, our archive content and expert movie and TV writing will continue to live on at gamesradar.com/totalfilm.

And so it goes... Two days and four performances left of @SkysEdgeMusical in the West End. Probably another soppy thread from me tomorrow. Massively grateful to our incredible cast, crew and everyone who got us here. If you came to see us, thank you so much. It means the world.

@AdamLenson I’m so sorry to hear this. Your Edinburgh show was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and I’ve never forgotten it. In fact I booked Cable Street just because your name was attached to it.

I am reminded that a year ago I was all set to go to Edinburgh with my solo show about my cancer journey. It was a huge success and you may have wondered why it never toured or came back.

Anyone else with ADHD have emotions that go from 0 to 100 in seconds?🌪️ One minute you're fine, the next you're blindsided and overwhelmed. The smallest things can trigger you. Others might say they walk on eggshells around you because your mood can change at any moment? #adhd

Why is an ADHD diagnosis so important? So you know that some of your tantrums are actually sensory overload, your procrastination isn’t laziness, and your sadness could be ADHD burnout. -Dr. Jen

@benhewis I think given they’re using your work for FOH, I’d escalate now. If they haven’t paid for it, they shouldn’t really be using it in that way.

Freelancers, at what point do you stop worrying about preserving a client relationship and start escalating when they don’t pay you…? I have a £2k invoice two+ months overdue with a venue that is largely ghosting me, except once to say they’re having ‘cash flow’ issues. 😔 And
