TLDR: Ben Mulroney DONATED nearly the maximum allowable amount to the Conservative Party of Canada — and is now the interim host of one of Canada’s top political shows. I’ve got the receipts:

Jimmy Kimmel is a symptom of a huge problem: a concentrated media ecosystem beholden to corporate whims. Canadian media struggles with this too. Consider Global News' management making Ben Mulroney a top political host. It's a worryingly partisan decision, especially given what I just uncovered:

Vous trouvez qu’il fait chaud? Ce n’est que le prélude de ce qui nous attend dans les prochaines années, en raison de la crise climatique imputable surtout à notre dépendance aux énergies fossiles. Texte et graphique: ledevoir.com/environnement/…

Canada’s housing crisis is deepening. Carney quietly changed the definition of “affordable” housing—from 30% to 50% of a person’s income. That’s not affordability—it’s desperation. No one should spend half their income just to live. Build housing now.

The deep spending cuts called for by PM Carney’s government yesterday will weaken the programs that people depend on. This could result in thousands of public service job cuts impacting PSAC members, their families and communities across the country. 1/2 ctvnews.ca/politics/artic…

“The wealthiest 1% of the global population owns more than 95% of humanity combined…And yet the super-wealthy pay less tax than the working and middle class.” But Carney agrees with Trump to end the tax on Tech billionaires. Elbows up….for who?? news.un.org/en/story/2025/…

The NDP rejects PM Carney’s pledge to spend 5% of GDP on defence. It would cost $150B a year with no plan to pay for it, forcing cuts to the services Canadians rely on. We must not abandon people’s needs to appease Donald Trump. See my full statement here: ndp.ca/news/new-democ…

Zohran Mamdani’s plan to tax the rich is a 2% tax on income over $1 million. If you make $1.1 million, you’d pay an extra $2,000. Watching working class conservatives and politicians completely meltdown about this is wild.

NDP got Bill C5 split into 2 parts. We supported Part 1 which will reduce federal interprovincial trade barriers to get workers & goods flowing better within Canada. We opposed Part 2 that allows the PM to govern like Trump, ignore laws and violate rights. Cons + Libs passed it.

Dear PM Carney, Canada is bound by UN Charter & cannot attack or threaten to attack another sovereign country like Iran. Israel violated UN Charter when it pre-emptively & illegally attacked Iran. Israel has been claiming Iran is close to nuclear weapons for decades. The most reliable reports suggest it's Israel with nuclear weapons. Keep in mind, Israel is the one that has not signed non-proliferation treaty. Canada cannot engage in or support lawlessness. Please don't create grave risk to innocent civilians in the middle east (or here at home) by supporting or acting in concert with US & Israel's illegal attacks on Iran (or Israel's ongoing genocide & illegal occupation in Palestine). Canada must stand for better than following an unstable, war-mongering US President into war - the same President that is in a trade war with Canada & the rest of the world. If you are going to lead the allies, lead them into peace & prioritize human rights, climate action, respect for international law & a safe, sustainable, Indigenous-rights respecting economy that supports everyone. #cdnpoli #uspoli #UN #humanrights #peace #nonproliferation #iran #palestine #nationalsecurity #indigenous #firstnations #constitution
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

Iran’s nuclear programme is a grave threat to international security, and Canada has been consistently clear that Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.     While U.S. military action taken last night was designed to alleviate that threat, the situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile. Stability in the region is a priority.   Canada calls on parties to return immediately to the negotiating table and reach a diplomatic solution to end this crisis. As G7 leaders agreed in Kananaskis, the resolution of the Iranian crisis should lead to a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.
