Including Liberals (Cabinet abstained).
Now, “our new government”:
Signs a deal with Beijing.
Chinese-born, Liberal MP, calls the evidence of forced labour in China “hearsay.”
Global Affairs erases “forced labour”.
Carney won’t face the press.
Beijing calls it a lie.
Ottawa says nothing.
Either this government is compromised or it has made a calculated decision that Beijing is worth more than human rights.
Both are disqualifying.

but......The CCP’s official term is “Vocational Education and Training Centers” (职业技能教育培训中心). They claim these are voluntary facilities that provide job training, Mandarin lessons, and “deradicalization” for people at risk of extremism. It seems like those "training centers" are top secrets

In 2020 he traveled alone to Xinjiang, secretly filmed the detention camps, fled China, and was granted asylum by a US judge in January 2026 — because the court found he faced a "well-founded fear" of persecution if returned to China. After he released his footage, Chinese state security began systematically questioning his family members back home as collective punishment.
That is not hearsay. That is a man who risked everything to show the world what the CCP has spent billions trying to hide — satellite image manipulation, journalist expulsions, diplomatic pressure, and collective punishment against anyone who speaks out.
The camps do not exist, according to Beijing. So why does an entire government work this hard to silence one man with a camera?

When a sitting MP dismisses documented Uyghur forced labour as "hearsay" in parliament, that is not a gaffe. That is exactly the outcome Beijing's influence operations are designed to produce. Let's talk about how Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhejiang suppliers use Chinese forced labor:
My husband, a Chinese human rights advocate, NGO founder, became a slavery labor in Chishan prison, Hunan province. 2000+ prisoners, are forced to work 10-12 hrs everyday, get cents per day, my husband no pay as he is a political prisoner.
Milwaukee tool has a supplier in Shanghai called shanghai select who placed order to prison. Prisoners made Milwaukee Tool gloves everyday, which generate dozens million RMB for Chishan prison. Semi products and finished products sent back to Shanghai Select and export to US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia and other countries.
The Dude Shoes, a brand belongs to Crocs, produced shoe upper and shoe side panel in Chishan prison, then sent back to their Guangzhou supplier to assemble before export.
Actually a lot of western brands, placed order to suppliers based in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhejiang, having their semin-finshed products manufactured by Chinese prison labor.
In China, there are 2.7 million to 3.5 million prison labor. If we add Uyghurs who are arbitrarily detained in concentration camps or sent to factory as slavery labor. How many products selling in Canada are made by Chinese prison labor every year?
That's what I am fighting for! And United States blocked a supplier who use Chinese prisoners as slavery labor!

The Chinese Embassy calls me a liar & anti-China. I was a friend of China for 40 yrs from my first extended visit in 1979. I was VP of the Cda-China Friendship Society & helped them build their R&D capacity. But then Beijing kidnapped innocent Cdns, put spy buoys in our Arctic & forced millions of Uyghurs into indoctrination, forced labour & prisons. China is losing some of its best friends, like I once was, through Xi’s actions. @hrw_chinese

What is China’s take on this? Answer: The blatant lie spread by a handful of anti-China individuals about the so-called “forced labor” in China aims to achieve nothing but “forced unemployment”. What they want is simply to deprive the Chinese people of their right to pursue a happy life through hard work, disrupt the normal production and operation of Chinese enterprises, and suppress China’s development, which will also severely damage the stability of global supply chains. Their ulterior motive cannot be any clearer, and it seriously infringes upon the labour rights of the Chinese people. We strongly condemn and resolutely oppose it. The Chinese government has always adhered to the “people-centered” philosophy, attaching great importance to its citizens’ basic rights, including their labour rights. It is the overriding priority for the Chinese government to create jobs for people of all ethnic groups so that their rights to employment are protected and that they can live a decent and happy life. 我在这里生活多年，认为这个思想基础仍然在，只是过去几十年被美国的力量系统性压制了。但这两年，明显有独立反思的爆发倾向，不少欧洲人的感觉是“你看，我早就知道不对劲”。我觉得这是个很好的现象。至于其他治理结构基础，我认为在危机面前，只要做出相应的调整就能逐渐转型。首先是能源，煤电核电什么的这两年其实都在加速上马。

一尊感觉仍然是被父辈的谎言洗脑了，抱着一种在科技领域赶超美国，在制造业领域占领高地比改革分配问题更紧迫的想法，当然我猜他身边的既得利益者群体都这么劝他，他也觉得这么做没毛病。但这只在游戏规则之内有用。如果美国像现在这样自爆了，而中国又没有做出任何实质性的价值观级别的变革，只能随着美国的船一起沉下。
