Just heard that a new national cricket selection committee has been appointed.
I want to thank Upul Tharanga and the rest of the selectors for taking on a very tough and often thankless job back in 2023, at a time when Sri Lankan cricket was going through one of its hardest phases — after a poor World Cup and missing out on the Champions Trophy.
The idea then was to bring in younger selectors who had only recently stopped playing, so they understood today’s game and what modern cricketers go through. I felt that was the right thinking.
As Sports Minister, I never interfered with the selection process. The selectors were given the space to do their job, and I believe they played a part in helping the team come back from a difficult period.
It’s disappointing to see that decision now being reversed, with the process once again getting politicised.
I appreciate the work done by Upul Tharanga and his team under challenging circumstances and wish them all the best going forward.
Pls ask the new government to do a inquiry , also it was turned down and kept to the same amount bcz of the fight I took , very excited to see why the new government isn’t taking a word about it , listen I am staying happy without the nonsense so let me enjoy life , this message is to people who did the best back then while working with me.
@fernandoharin VFS almost crashed it and you as the Tourism Minister stayed silently..

Delighted to see what we predicted for 2024 has become a reality , hard work paid off as we started with zero tourist , v limited airlines flying in to Sri Lanka and ended 2022 with 709,000 arrivals , as predicted in 2023 target was 1.5 mil tourist and ended up with 1,489,000 arrivals , 2024 was 2 million and great achievement with all involved , kudos to the industry and Sri Lanka tourism staff , wish the new government to continue the good work as r target a realistic one for 2025 was 2.5 million all the best to everyone involved, Sri Lanka can #greateecovery#congratulations2M

Thank you all for the support. Will be back stronger.
Harin preparing to sing Sajith's praises till November, after criticising him in very personal ways for over two years. This is just so he can hang on Sajith's coattails and get into parliament. No wonder people voted for AKD to change this political culture. #SriLanka#lka
In my journey through politics, I’ve always embraced challenges, believing that true leadership often means taking risks for the greater good. When our nation faced its darkest moments, I made difficult decisions that I felt were necessary to steer us toward recovery. I have no regrets about those choices, even in the face of defeat.
Ranil Wickremesinghe may not have won but he played the most valuable role in saving our nation from bankruptcy. I stand proud of the part I played in that process to support him and believe that sometimes the most significant victories aren’t marked by success at the polls but by the resilience and policy we showed within our community at its darkest times.
Thank you for your support and faith during the most challenging moments we faced as a country. As I understand the will of the people, I fully respect the majority decision and bow my head in acknowledgment. Congratulations new President @anuradisanayake As I reflect on my journey, there’s a strong possibility I’ll be making a decision to reassess my role in active politics in the future.
In order to allocate resources more effectively and prioritize deeper engagement with key stakeholders, focused groups with professionals, Hon.Ranil WIckremesinghe's campaign team strategically reduced the number of public rallies from 92 to 84. This decision allowed for an increased focus on one-on-one professional forums, resulting in a total of 200 engagements between Hon. Ranil WIckermesinghe and various sectors.#rwcan#srilankacan#focusgroup#unp#srilanka
