Libyan Grand Mufti forbids anti-immigrant protests and violence
Libya’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq Gharyani, has declared that demonstrations targeting immigrants and any assaults against them are forbidden under Islamic law.
In a strongly worded statement, the senior religious authority urged Libyans to reject vigilante actions and instead pressure the government to properly enforce immigration regulations.
“Libyan people must act responsibly and not be drawn into chaos that could cause immense harm to the Libyan state,” Sheikh Gharyani said.
The Grand Mufti’s intervention comes amid rising tensions over illegal immigration in Libya.
He emphasized that while concerns about uncontrolled migration are legitimate, taking the law into one’s own hands through street protests or attacks on foreigners violates Islamic principles.
Instead, he called on citizens to channel their grievances through lawful means by holding state institutions accountable for securing borders and implementing existing immigration laws.

Discussion of civil wars focus too much on blaming foreign intervention rather than fixing the root cause of the conflict. Foreign intervention adds fuel to the fire but it doesn’t start the fire. If you take away the advanced foreign weapons, these conflicts would still continue
