This heartbreaking article sounds so tragically familiar. Symptoms of Lyme disease can be similar to those of conditions like ME/CFS. We ask health professionals to consider - Could it be Lyme disease? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

"It's just devastating. It sounds dramatic, but it's life-changing." "It's like a grieving process." 💔 No-one who hasn't been through something like this can really understand that grief. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@meleriwilliams7 Thank you so much for your research, and for the sensitive and accurate way you have put across the devastating impact of #ME - especially for the thousands who are very severely affected and for whom there is no commissioned NHS specialist care.

Kate Heap: Scope for Imagination
Where Are You, Eddie? by @MichaelRosenYes & Gill Smith is a beautiful exploration of grief and how those we love are never really gone. We can find them in our memories and remember them in the simple moments of each day. This is a very special book of healing and empathy.

I've seen this gotcha quite a few times now: "If the Kent meningitis outbreak was caused by Covid, why is it just in Kent?" Which completely misses the point of what people mean when they say that outbreaks like this are made more likely by the damage caused by covid infections.

Don't you get it? If lots of people in your population have lower ability to fight infection, it doesn't just mean those people are more likely to *catch* infections. It means they are more likely to *spread* them too. Let me explain. This is important.

GP shortages in the NHS weaken early detection of Meningitis outbreaks. Delayed access, rushed triage, and slower reporting can hinder response, increasing risk of spread and worse outcomes when speed is critical. The system needs urgent support. theguardian.com/society/2026/m…

Although there is substantial concern about meningococcal disease, the number of cases in England in recent years is below the levels seen in the past. There was a marked fall in cases during the pandemic and even with the subsequent increase, cases remain below past levels.

We know SARS-CoV-2 can dysregulate the immune system, including T cell function. We know impaired immunity increases susceptibility to serious infections like meningitis. Yet people act like these things exist in completely separate worlds. This is wilful blindness.

Meningitis is rare but requires vigilance. Key red flags: fever, severe headache, vomiting, confusion, drowsiness, non-fading rash, or rapid worsening. Don't hesitate to seek help from your GP, NHS 111, or 999 if urgent. #MeningitisAwareness #HealthTips
