Attached is a statement I issued today drawing attention to an official press release by the State House yesterday that touched on the Federal Government’s proposed Ward Development Programme and that was blatantly partisan in its content.

In light of the recent escalation in reports of insecurity, this is a letter I wrote today to the National Assembly reiterating the call for legislation to enable State Policing. This is the time to make this happen.

Again, we hear tragic news of cruel and brazen attacks on helpless communities of Nigerians like us in Kebbi and Kwara. As we reach out in love to those affected, we say enough is enough. This must stop. The case for State Policing has never been stronger. NOW is the time to act.

What our newly-elected leadership bravely confronted at our party Secretariat today is a disturbing escalation of a familiar pattern. This is not just about PDP. It is an existential assault on multi-party democracy that we and other well-meaning Nigerians will vigorously resist.
