People forget that in the 1990s, Britain was the fourth biggest manufacturing economy in the world.
Through the 1990s the number of jobs in manufacturing *increased*.
From 1993 to 1998, British manufacturing employment increased from 4.1 million to 4.3 million. Not unrelatedly, across the same timespan, electricity prices dropped by 22%.
Our manufacturing crisis today is above all an energy crisis.

Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States.
Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan."
This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States.
The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.

If you need Brent oil today, it is $141. After the ill-advised attack on Iran's refineries last night, $150 is assured. Next up: $200. Then MUCH higher.

Paper Brent is at $109. Physical Brent is at $141. Physical is the price if you need oil now. Paper is the price if delivery can wait until June. However you look at the Middle East, this will not be fixed in a few weeks. Oil is going far higher than consensus thinks.

BREAKING: In just few hours, the oil price will reach to $200 USD per barrel! Heavy U.S. and Israeli airstrikes have targeted the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in southern Iran. This is one of Iran’s major oil infrastructures.
Multiple explosions were reported minutes ago, with at least 25 heavy blasts recorded across the area. Facilities including Marun, Karoun, Bandar Imam, Amir Kabir, Razi petrochemicals, and Fajr 1 & 2 power plants were hit.
Large columns of smoke are rising from the petrochemical complex as a result of the strikes. Further updates are expected.
The IRGC is expected to retaliate this by heavily targeting major oil infrastructures of Saudi Arabia and the UAE as the Saudis had an important role in the airstrikes against the oil facilities of Iran today (by providing access to the Prince Sultan Air Base).

The last VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) that left just before the Iran war is expected to arrive on April 11. Even if the Strait of Hormuz reopened today, the next tanker would not arrive before May 11, 2026. Oil prices will not stabilize anytime soon.

Watch this video and understand: this is the vast majority of human societies for the vast majority of history. A completely senseless, largely random existence interspersed with moments of absurd violence but otherwise pointless, boring, filthy and embarrassing.
