@AdsoOfBelk George RR Martin also wanted a 2-hr movie, so not controversial. HBO wanted to tightly control budget and felt the content favored episodic chapters that could build excite,ent vs a continuous arc, plus spreading out across 2 billing periods generated better ROI vs a movie. 🤷🏼

@graystokev2 There were ways the pacing worked to its advantage and ways it didn’t. I don’t think it’s controversial to say you could adequately adapt the story into a 2.5 hour movie. The three Dunk & Egg novellas combined are fewer pages than any single LOTR or ASOIAF novel

Thoroughly enjoyed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms but it’s a little insane to be putting out a 6-episode season when the episodes are 30 minutes each, especially when it feels packed with filler anyway.
