@Sir_Rainbows @antic2000 @potatoslav @MMKivekas Please enjoy the games. Walk to the stadium if you want. We don’t need to have a debate about why suggesting “The US” is of one mind on any particular subject is incorrect.

@antic2000 @potatoslav @MMKivekas Enjoy the games if you come. Walk if you want. Complain when people are concerned about your welfare. Keep on keepin’ on. Cheers.

@gregharty @potatoslav @MMKivekas I walked a mile to a cinema in Utah and the hotel I was staying at was so concerned they sent a driver to the cinema car park to check I got there. It is unreasonable.

@antic2000 @potatoslav @MMKivekas 350m people don’t “think” collectively. Lots of people want infrastructure improvements.
This is not about “thinking” that walk is reasonable. It objectively is unreasonable. If you warn me against doing something silly in ur country I hope I’d listen w/out lecturing you about it
English

@gregharty @potatoslav @MMKivekas The US generally doesn't think walking is a reasonable thing to do.

@antic2000 @potatoslav @MMKivekas “The US” didn’t make that spot unwalkable, a few land developers bribing politicians did. “The US” didn’t decide to host these games: a few billionaires bribing politicians did.
She’s trying to save anyone coming from having the worst day of your lives trying to walk there.
English

@potatoslav @MMKivekas The point is the US had 10 years to consider the problem and seemed to dismiss walking out of hand despite that being how most people do it.

@jimsoxfan Trying to blame the announcer for dropping ratings when the team sucked would be one of their lowest lows if it weren’t for all the other smear campaigns.

Major League Baseball recognizes Don Orsillo as a play-by-play icon.
But John Henry, Tom Werner, and the rest of the Red Sox bastards didn't.
Shame on the Red Sox.

@jadel4w @isolynthe It’s crazy sitting down and sketching and feeling like you’re three different people from one piece to the next.

“So, let's get this straight. You changed the bidding rules on the first phase?”
“Yes, because the contractor we wanted failed the technical score. Eliminated.”
“And this contractor, his nickname is "The Change-Order Artist" ... he is, in fact, notorious for ripping off the state of California?”
“Oh sure, it's a whole business model. Partners with Richard Blum for years. You know, Feinstein's husband.”
“OK. So, there were experienced bidders who had actually built HSR, who had core competency and a delivery record.”
“Sure. But Ron's a big donor, you see. He also took a bath buying Miramax, so it was a way for the party to funnel some money back to him. Aside from the film tax credits, obviously. Jerry Brown pulled some strings.”
“And the change orders?”
“Not even any documentation needed. They tried an audit back in 2018, they found change orders for tens of millions of dollars without documentation. Easy money. Now they're sealing the records.”
“They're ... sealing the records?”
“People are starting to ask too many questions now, the public get antsy once you get up to half a billion dollars in a single change order, so the IG is going to shield the records. It might "harm the state" if people see them, haha.”

“The real power in America is held by a fast-emerging new Oligarchy of pimps and preachers who see no need for Democracy or fairness or even trees, except maybe the ones in their own yards, and they don't mind admitting it. They worship money and power and death. Their ideal solution to all the nation's problems would be another 100 Year War.”

it used to be that every older generation had nostalgia for their childhood/college years
and you could have a "here's why the 80s were better... or 90s... or 50s... or whatever conversation..."
but now everyone over 40 seems to agree that we peaked in about '99-'00 or so in terms of happiness with tech... a nice taste of advances with email and flip phones and even TiVo to skip commercials or getting a flight online (before they made it awful)...
but no social media and cameras/tracking everyone and everything...
we had some cool stuff, but it wasn't invasive and all encompassing and mostly stupid and didn't bring out the worst in people and companies all day every day
