Experimental acct to see how many spammers I can catch and report. If they read this post, they'll know not to follow me. >:-)

I've followed AdSense as I suspect that that is one of the accts that spammers mass-follow from.

I would think that Twitter coding in a limit of follows per hour would greatly decrease the number of spammers

Began this experiment when I watched a follower on my usual acct adding ~10 follows every minute. Every 10 or so follows earned a follower!

Wow...that same follower I mentioned in my last tweet is now, ALREADY, a follower of mine. Four days after beginning this acct, 7 of 8...

...of my followers have just followed me to spam me, in the hope that I'll either follow them or read their profile.

Nauseating. It's time to follow the spam acct and report them. If anybody is actually reading this in their feed...

...I'll be reporting you to spam in ~16 hrs, unless you unfollow me in the meantime.

6 of 7 fllwrs reported. 7th unflwd me in time. I wonder whether they unflwd 2 avoid reprt or as coincidental part of churn habit? we'll see!

think I'll unfollow adsense and follow google. See if that garners any spam followers. Can Google beat AdSense contrib of 7 spammers?

Ok, just noticed that the 7th spammer, aka the one that agitated me enough to start this trial, aka the acct writergurl, just went from...

...~6000 ppl followed to 15 ppl followed. Tis clear (s)he didn't unfollow me to avoid report. Going to report writergurl now.

@google - twt acct 'writergurl' has PageRank 5 due to "follow churning". if GOOG algo looks at path of follows, spammers won't cheat PRank

Bummer, none of 7 reported spammers have yet been removed. I'll give it more time before I block them

Meanwhile, Google appears not to be mass-follow account, as AdSense was. 2 add'l followers I got were from tweet (2 below) on page rank.

I should prolly unfollow Google and find a new account experiment to see where the asshat spammers find their prey....

Fascinating...Just pulled 3 add'l spammers in the last 15 mins just from my tweets. I say 'AdSense' or 'Page Rank' & they follow. How LAME

Wow, yeah, one more from that last tweet. Seriously, twitter, it would be SO EASY to limit spam....just implement limit on follows/hour.

Not sure what the next phase of experiment is. Will think about and return.
