When a-train started to become more idealistic, The Deep , being the impressionable putz he is decided he was going to be more idealistic. When A-train put distance between himself and the seven that influence was no longer around and he sold his soul to Homelanders cause because he's a coward.

At first, The Deep couldn’t even handle seeing sea creatures get hurt, let alone eat them. Now he’s casually eating his own kind without anyone forcing him. What kind of character is he at this point? His scenes just feel disgusting. The writers have already made it clear he’s dumb they don’t need to keep pushing it.
