The steps of organized sound from which the whole musical architecture can be built and live long after the composers are no more, it lives through us. Edgar Allan Poe is so correct in his The Domain of Arnheim, when titling 4 conditions of happiness the final one is related the the pursuit of purpose and in which the intensity of happiness is proportionate to the amount of spirituality in this purpose. This is why art be it musical or visual or written uplifts like nothing else and with AI further replacing the mundane work of this planet fortunately more people will be able to access these realms through necessity

I am selecting a short story for our next book club meeting, in Montenegro but also online , welcome to join if this sounds interesting, here is a little excerpt on conditions of Happiness from Edgar Allan Poe that we will most likely read
He admitted but four elementary principles, or, more strictly, conditions, of bliss. That which he considered chief was (strange to say!) the simple and purely physical one of free exercise in the open air. “The health,” he said, “attainable by other means is scarcely worth the [column 2:] name.” He instanced the ecstacies [[ecstasies]] of the fox-hunter, and pointed to the tillers of the earth, the only people who, as a class, can be fairly considered happier than others. His second condition was the love of woman. His third, and most difficult of realization, was the contempt of ambition. His fourth was an object of unceasing pursuit; and he held that, other things being equal, the extent of attainable happiness was in proportion to the spirituality of this object.

I don't think people understand how insane Renaissance Florence was.
In a town of about ***50k people*** you had the following people all alive at the same time:
* Leonardo Da Vinci
* Michelangelo
* Raphael
* Amerigo Vespucci (explorer for whom America is named)
* Niccolo Machiavelli
* Sandro Botticelli
* Lorenzo de Medici
What happened to all that human capital? Did the intelligent men of Florence migrate elsewhere over the coming centuries?

From darkness to ultimate light, I needed to rest from Messiaen with some Waldstein Sonata, just revisiting the second theme from seemingly combative first theme, very structural and very simple into something poetic. It is the most strange of Beethoven’s sonatas and yet such an inspiration #Beethoven #waldstein

@KikobluFA Hi my dear friend, yes I am exactly the same and always wondered if I was wrong, it is just too much for the background music or I would have to learn how to ignore it in order to listen to it.
English

@ideasrex I never have background music playing. I only listen to music when my intention is to actually listen, absorb or analyze what is happening musically. Most of the time I thoroughly enjoy listening to the natural sounds all around me.
I hope you are doing well, Irina. 👋🏼

Messiaen Vingt regards, learning the third and it is sooooo difficult for some reason. The ascension of the spirit going back to the divine and spiraling against the gravity is almost impossible to memorize. So much easier to fall down and that is what this is about. Illustrating through music what we know on some level but mostly reject learning.

This is so true and I think today’s I might be changing into we very soon

Dolce vita of the Adriatic coast while enjoying cheese for far away
Salt sits quietly on the edge of everything
the plate, the skin, the memory of wind
cheese sweating under a sun that forgets nothing
olive oil drawing slow maps of time
someone laughs far away, or years ago
it makes no difference here
the sea keeps repeating itself
as if trying to understand
why we stay
and we do
breaking bread, breaking silence
watching the horizon like it owes us something
it doesn’t
still—
we taste it anyway

Le monde des flous – Refus absolu de vivre comme un tachiste" (The World of Blurs – Absolute Refusal to Live as a Tachiste)
Completed in 1965, this work comes from a later period in Max Ernst’s life when he was living back in France. It’s a fascinating, complex piece that blends his classic Surrealist techniques with a bit of a cheeky critique of contemporary art trends as the fashionable critics were trying to put surrealism out of fashion, he insisted that the inner world is much wider than the language be it a blur (how he called abstract painters) or structured piece so here we see the interaction between the sun and elements, female and male, many cages of human self imposed limitation, many dimensions,… all through assemblage because art is a conglomeration, universal

So I partially watched The dinosaurs that everyone is talking about lately and the asteroid impacted the nearby building in my dream. The after effect is nothing like the AI depiction here but the brain somehow was able to illustrate this moment of reality melting which we can’t see with our eyes, it is all pervasive and fascinating when atoms stopped being what we used them to be or felt entitled towards their stability
