@MinisterDungeon Beyond math, descending AC makes more sense conceptually, delineating a solid limit to mundane armor that is still maneuverable. Ascending implies infinite heights. Negative numbers carry the ambience of being imbued with/achieving mystical and/or legendary status, or divinity.

@exQUIZitely Too poor in the '80s, but I did eventually get a free one in '99 from the short-lived Free-PC, which gave you an underpowered Compaq Presario with on-screen ads (easily circumvented). They got bought out that same year by eMachines and released everyone from the ad viewing.
