Instead of basic finishing drills, I used to run these: โ†’ Multiple actions (shots, 1v1s, 2v1s, crosses) โ†’ Wave format (super dynamic) โ†’ Team competition (compete + enjoy) For me, itโ€™s the best way to train the final third, and keep players enjoying it.

This training of Courtois is tougher than it looks. Not only does he have to catch the balls but he also has to put them in the correct box according to the colour. No wonder his reflexes are unbelievable. Thank you Chelsea FC ๐Ÿซก

@Tobennarico That's not a good sign and little hope on the team you prepared for a days for weekend game. No manager goes into the game with hope of losing, regardless of the opposition. A game is not decided until the end of it. If there is 1% chance to win it, take it.

A reminder to coaches that no game is won or lost on tactical boards or in analysis rooms. Games are won or lost by players decisions. There are times when decisions you cannot plan win.

Don't limit your actions on the ball to short - wide - vertical passes alone. The most essential pass sometimes can be long accurate pass behind the last line of opposition to the winger or striker who make a runs at the final third and execute with precision.

How do coaches use defeat as a mechanism for future success? It's not a problem that you lose, the problem is how long it takes to win. The Future One Diary.๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

One of my bigger challenges has been creating a framework for our coaches in terms of how we want all of our teams to play and our identity on the field. A few things that were top of mind when creating our most current versionโ€ฆ

Failure is temporary. I think 98% of football is about dealing with failure and still being able to smile and find joy in the game any time you are involved.

Iโ€™ve been working on โ€˜the game within the gameโ€™ with a coach, who sent me this โ€œCame across this clip today which I thought was good. 2v2s all over the pitch. Timing of the passes to play 1-2s. A clear movement/change of speed & a hand signal from Tevez to connect with Giggsโ€๐Ÿ”ฅโšฝ๏ธ

Our U17s struggled to create chances and score. So we went back to a core 6v6 in the final third (#6, #8, #7, #11, #10, #9). The aim wasnโ€™t to script patterns. It was to challenge players to solve situations using 3 key principles: โšฝ Bravery on the Ball โš–๏ธ Balance of Individual & Team ๐Ÿ”ฅ Clear Desire to Score & Win ๐Ÿงต
