A few weeks ago I said there was a seismic change in Ethereum's social layer about to happen. It's happening. Multiple big infrastructure players that most users don't know about are starting to collaborate and build together, doubling down on ETH and the Ethereum network. Follow @blockspaceforum to keep up with it. The biggest block builder (@titanbuilderxyz), the biggest relay (@ultrasoundmoney), @ETHGasOfficial, @Commit_Boost (38% network adoption), @QuasarBuilder, @primev_xyz, @nuconstruct, @blocknative, @fabric_ethereum, researchers from the @ethereumfndn, and many others are all coordinating. Many of us realized that they had to team up and work closely together to make our opinions stronger and speed up our ability to deliver. In the last 5 years @class_lambda built many of the most relevant zkVMs and Ethereum L2s. Last year we went all in on @ethereum L1. In a year we built @ethrex_client, one of the fastest production ready execution clients at about 60k lines of code. We're coordinating with big stakers and the MEV pipeline to grow its adoption while also shipping multiple products around it. We're building a new RISC-V zkVM with @alignedlayer and @3miLabs that I think will become a standard for L1 proving and @eth_proofs in the short term. We're working on @leanEthereum by building our own @ethlambda_lean client. We helped develop the @Commit_Boost sidecar that standardizes communication between validators and third party protocols. We're happy to have helped build a critical piece of software that is now running on 38% of the Ethereum network. We also started collaborating with @titanbuilderxyz on different things under @kubimensah's lead. Hopefully soon we'll be working closely with @alextes and @ultrasoundrelay too! There's more I want to share but can't yet. For now I can say that @class_lambda is part of the @blockspaceforum process and I'm very excited about what's coming. Keep an eye on what we will be doing, I promise it's gonna get interesting.

What if we could make the Ethereum transaction journey and block construction process faster, cheaper, more flexible, censorship resistant, & robustness? What if we could do this today? This is what the Blockspace Forum is about. ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

The sale isn't the victory. The TGE isn't the victory. @hotpot_dao said it best after the Megaeth sale. Now is the time to build, not the time to celebrate. Does launching into low sentiment hurt? Yes. Do I support the community decision to launch right now? No. But I have to respect the will of the community. Death to the speculative bullshit. Build something real or fuck off.

Imagine how many people of all different levels of capability are attempting to build a Discord killer right now with an llm out of spite. The network is the valuable asset, but the spectrum of participants on a mission to de-shitify the modern internet has gone hockey stick.

I've been deep building agent-based tooling for managing Wavefive's infrastructure for the last few months. We've gone from multiple touches per day at most levels - network, baremetal, virtual workloads, software, to a handful per week. This is within a highly opinionated hardware stack where we host everything (the networks, the baremetal, the power, the HVAC, the redundancy) and the closest we come to anything cloud-related is DNS. This week is the first where we never directly touched a single workload - it's all planned and executed by an agent. We're not at autonomy yet, I'm too paranoid for that, but the way we work has changed radically. I get to spend all the extra time working on new things and focusing on personal life. Grateful doesn't even begin to cover how good it all feels.

I moved back to desktop Linux in January after a 20 year hiatus and itโ€™s been an excellent experience. I donโ€™t think thereโ€™s much life left in Windows given how good the Linux desktop experience is in comparison plus Steamโ€™s contributions to the Linux gaming ecosystem.

If the last few weeks have struck terror, fear, sadness, doubt into your heart and you're not sure if you can cope going through it repeatedly... Bottle that feeling. Sit with it for a while. Then make a plan so you never need to feel like this again. Make yourself immune so that when others capitulate, you and yours can take it to the face and weather the storm. And when the good times roll and everyone around you is acting like they made it, get that bottle out and pop the cork. Smell the terror. Because it will be back again and if you've not figured your shit out by then, it's all on you and you've nobody but yourself to blame. I'm absolutely projecting but I'm absolutely serious. You owe it to yourself and those around you to become absolutely immune to the absolute bullshit we are surrounded by. I believe in you.

A VPN ban doesnโ€™t mean that theyโ€™re going to lock up every single person who uses a VPN or watches porn. Your governmentโ€™s strategy is to make โ€œcrimesโ€ like this as common and easy to commit as possible. This way, if you ever do something completely legal which they *actually* donโ€™t like, *which can be completely unrelated to VPNs or bypassing age verification,* they can pull up your internet history and easily prosecute you. Organize a legitimate protest, and the governmentโ€™s swift response will be to label you a child sex offender because they found you using evil VPN technology. This is how free speech dies, not from a law that says โ€œfree speech is dead now,โ€ but from draconian, authoritarian laws like this that give the government โ€œplausibleโ€ reasons to go after anyone, which canโ€™t easily be fought against.
Jonah Aragon@jonaharagon

๐Ÿ’ฏ this, and Iโ€™m once again begging libertarian-type tech people to understand that a โ€œVPN banโ€ or Chat Control doesnโ€™t mean theyโ€™re going to prevent you specifically from using a VPN or an encrypted messenger. It means when they catch you doing so, theyโ€™ll use that fact itself as a pretense to lock you up without needing to do any โ€œhard workโ€ like actually confirming whether you committed a real crime. Donโ€™t think you wonโ€™t be impacted just because you know how to outsmart an ISP filter!

If you haven't already mourned the loss of your SWE or DevOps mode of operation and moved on to being an exceptional architect/orchestrator then you're falling behind every day. It's not a fucking meme. Take it seriously and re-engage the curious, tinkering side of your brain.
