What kinds of additional work opportunities are there out there for a skilled teacher to expand their skillset in both research, program eval, and coaching/consultation? Anyone need some cool peeps working on research projects? Asking for some friends in the Boston area!

to my people we turn to each other at the best times as we do at the worst times. our community is alive because we lift and take care of each other. we are not moved by bullshit. when we’re afraid we lean on each other. right now we are going to do exactly that. we are going to be there for each other. do not be cynical. do not have the conversation alone in your head. go be together. be around those who do not assume the worst of you. fight for the rights of oppressed people. respect the earth and its creatures. live with the most dignity and remember that every tiny thing is carried on. as always the ally coalition’s work does not rest. as always our people do not rest and know greater strength and joy than those who put others down.

I hope you all read this and weep. I (and too many others) have lost too much in my life to the ideologies America endorsed yesterday.

Tough day to be a psychologist in this country. Tough day to be a scientist in this country. Tough day to be a woman in this country.

Wanting to stay strong, focused, accepting, kind, curious, generous, loving, admirable, and caring in a world that says we’d rather have felons than women lead. 💔

When parents only ask about grades and goals, kids infer that achievement comes first. To signal that we value their well-being and character, we should also ask about happiness and kindness: -What made you feel joyful? Sad or worried? -Who did you help? Who helped you?

Purposeful assessment AT SCALE helps us begin to know what to implement, for whom, under what conditions. The people who benefit from getting rid of the MCAS are the rich kids already getting all the enrichment, tutoring, after-school, everything.

It’s imperative we continue to include a measure like MCAS so educational effectiveness and progress can be nationally compared—we don’t get a “pass” on showing up nationally just because MA is pretty white and pretty rich. “The rules don’t apply to us” is bogus.

HEY. Let’s NOT get rid of the MCAS. For students who need it, alternative graduation requirements/pathways ALREADY EXIST. Removing the MCAS harms the most vulnerable of our students by making it harder to identify who needs additional support.
