I work with many people who feel deep hesitation about placing money on an altar. “I feel like I’m worshipping capitalism by doing that.” Heard you; that’s a larger conversation for another time. But if praying for your own financial security feels uncomfortable, then pray for others to receive what they need. Pray for Sudan to receive the resources it needs. For Congo. For Palestine. For Iran. For Lebanon. And better yet, don’t just pray. Offer material support to organizations doing real work in those places. Prayer and action are not opposites. They strengthen one another. But never underestimate the power of prayer. As a Scorpio rising, I carry Cancer in the 9th house — the house of faith, devotion, and prayer. Every long Moon thread I write is, in its own way, a prayer to the Moon. And after praying for some time to the Moon, she’s talking back.

Then place the money back on the altar and try something subtle but powerful: Feel, for a moment, what it would be like if your faith were suddenly restored. If your resources were growing again. I was on a panel on queer liberation and queer economies today (I’m an economist) and it literally felt like I was eating everyone’s anxiety. It was a wild collective experience that has me shaken actually. It’s comforting to know this is a good energy. 🫂

Lastly, eclipses mark turning points, but the turning point is rarely the whole story. The real work lives in what follows. In the days and weeks after, as the dust settles and what was revealed begins asking something of you. This Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo may be showing you what is no longer sustainable.
