The barrier trials chat shows the gradually changing attitude towards information availability in British racing. Been a long time since Archie Watson's 2yos were flying out of the stalls on debut and barrier trials were mentioned as a reason for that but not much was made of it

@stevenctilley @quevega @Rhys_N_Williams @HbfBritain Again we will disagree here imho the #1 most important thing when deciphering form is the going & as the COC at Thirsk kindly pointed out, a lot of them make it up as the see fit! An accurate going description pref from an independent source would be enormous for punters far 1/2

Jump outs without weights/times decent camera coverage will leave punters guessing as to if the winner carried 7st7lb or 10st2lb or if it beat some of the local constabulary horses🤷‍♂️🤔

@stevenctilley @quevega @Rhys_N_Williams @HbfBritain I disagree re wind ops, the same reason the jump outs won't be useful. i.e you are not getting the correct information! There are aprox 12 different wind op procedures that range from very minor with a near 100% correction rate to the kitchen sink version with near 100% fail 1/2

@stevenctilley @quevega @Rhys_N_Williams @HbfBritain same as wind ops Trns & Jock's were saying "he had a wind op" after 1 won showing impr form, no one ever asked how many of the bt ones had W/op so punters think they are missing out. they had 6, 9 runner "trials" 1 of them won 1st time & everyone says I'd have bet it if i'd known

@stevenctilley @quevega @Rhys_N_Williams @HbfBritain Atm they are private gallops with stalls practice, the problem seems to be that as they are being held on a Racecourse that punters need to be able to see them & know which horses were involved. without weights & times, I cant see any real benefit to punters🤷‍♂️ 1/2
