#nr Mark Waid’s Daredevil (2011)

I want to bring attention to this tweet by @MinuteNerdNews because it’s 100% right and points to a much bigger problem. Yes, fuck Josh D’Amaro and Disney into the sun. But social media and its performative outrage are also part of the issue when it comes to the devaluation of artists, from Andy Park to Robert Downey Jr.. The constant need to call everything AI slop or dismiss the MCU as worthless doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It actively undermines the value of real creative labor, from concept artists to the highest paid actors in the world. And when audiences themselves push the idea that this work isn’t worth the cost, they’re doing exactly what executives want. It gives them cover to cut corners, underpay artists, or replace them entirely. You can’t claim to support artists while simultaneously feeding the narrative that their work has no value.

@BustyLoads619 @Imn0tDaredevil I agree, but would like to also add that I think power scaling is half-assed a lot, which is why the rep is bad around it. And people have to understand these characters are people— not everyone is going to know the exact thing they can do with their powers to win in every moment

It can be a cash grab and a good choice, they’re not mutually exclusive. That Cap thing though pfff bad choice and cash grab

@Kylostan12 Waldron is a good writer, but uhhh yeah, this is a stain on that resume. I hope he does some more Loki/R&M quality work here though. Wanda’s character assassination is the worst I’ve ever seen, on par with Russo’s Hulk

@Ga_ba_go0ber @spideyyuri That’s fair, but devil’s advocate— bringing him in as SIM could have severely damaged Tony’s character as a whole. Really depends on how it was handled. And it’s also a marketing move after they lost so many fans, that is true… and Doctor Doom is Doctor Doom

@spideyyuri I agree but I also think there’s a level of poetry to the MCU beginning and being rebirthed with RDJ. Iron Man kicked off the road to the biggest cultural event in film history. As long as they don’t assassinate the way Endgame ended Tony’s story, I really like the choice

framing it like some out of this world groundbreaking casting decision as if it wasn't a money grab.. oh sure sure totally

@spideyyuri @Ga_ba_go0ber I’m interested in seeing RDJ’s Doom. Very very interested actually. One of my favorites and he’s been done terribly over and over. But yeah I’m ready for X-Men too

@Ga_ba_go0ber It may be a bit nitpicky. But I’m on the way through again for Doomsday so we’ll see if I feel the same after a rewatch at 23. I do really like his arc… truly losing big for the first time and grieving it. So maybe there’s something I miscontextualize that I’ll view differently

@karnyipyip Yeah Hulk is inexcusable. I do get your whiplash argument, even if i personally didn't feel it. But i do get it.

I really hope someone in the pipeline is misusing this term. But then again, McFreely and the Russos were terrible with Thor and somehow astronomically worse with Hulk so… uhhh… yeah 😬

@Ga_ba_go0ber I mainly like Thor’s arc… I just don’t like how they turn it into nothing but a joke and then in Endgame, he locks in. It’s just tonal whiplash that. I wish I could be most mad about Thor because it’s not awful… but Hulk… my god buddy I’m so sorry

@Ga_ba_go0ber Thor’s arc was fine. My issue came from every other joke in IW being about Thor being fat. Even though the Rhodey one kinda landed icl. And maybe there was a funny Rocket one, but icrc. I do remember it leaving a bad taste in my mouth though
