MOFA is delighted to share that the Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN in Geneva, H.E. Ram Prasad Subedi, has been unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the WTO Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE) for a one-year term from the General Council meeting held in Geneva on 11 March 2026.   The CTE is the standing forum dedicated to dialogue amongst WTO members on the impact of trade policies on environment and environment policies on trade and facilitate discussion to promote environmentally sustainable trade and climate-related trade measures. This leadership role for Nepal comes at a time when Nepal is preparing to graduate from the LDC status and working closely with all WTO Members for greater integration of our trade into global markets. @pmngeneva @amritrai555 @lokbchhetri

It also promotes preventive care, healthy lifestyles, and inclusive health systems to build stronger and more resilient societies worldwide.
