When George Lucas retired and needed a caretaker for his employees, companies, and creations, he chose Disney and his friend of forty years. Disney owning Star Wars—despite what angry YouTubers have brainwashed people into believing—is a good thing and ensures it will exist long after we're gone. I remember the Dark Times of 1986–1991. After the 1986 VHS release of Return of the Jedi and the limp 10th anniversary the following year, Star Wars was effectively a dead and forgotten franchise. Kenner canceled the toy lines (later recycling them for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves), and there were no more TV shows, movies, or books. All we had were West End Games RPG sourcebooks until the Expanded Universe books began with Heir to the Empire in 1991. If you truly love Star Wars and aren't just complaining online for engagement, this is the best time ever to be a fan. There's always something new—comics, novels, games, TV shows, or movies. I lived through the era when Star Wars was dead, and that makes me appreciate what we have now even more.
