When I first experienced physical manifestations of stress, I thought I was dying. I have had intense chest and stomach pains in multiple occasions. At first, these symptoms fed my anxiety. Now, through the help of therapy, I take those signs as reminders to be kind to myself.

Because I feel like this needs to be stated... it’s also not celebrated with tacky mustaches and sombreros.

I absolutely loved this! Thank you Yesenia for capturing the beauty (and struggles) of living on your own with family and friends long ways away.

In the #KeriLab we don’t say “I appreciate you”, instead we test each other’s ability to keep things alive through plants and I think that’s beautiful.

This needs to be amplified.

@HannahntheWolf @AcademicChatter I love iAnnotate. You can connect your Google Drive/Dropbox. That way you can access your pdfs and markup (highlight, write, add text, etc). Saved automatically to the file. Additionally, you can create new PDFs (blank, lined, or grid) where you can free write/draw.

I started journaling to release anxiety I’ve pent up for the past couple months. On Friday I decided to start a small trainee institutional grant application and I’m about 90% done. I’m pleasantly surprised how journaling has made me a better scientific writer.

@christineliuart I spoke at/helped organize my city’s first rally and felt tokenized. It was a great experience to talk to thousands of people and help with the event. But the experience left a bad taste. I’ve been holding onto this for years. Feels great to have it called out.

I've finally finished a book on the history of cancer called The Emperor of all Maladies; I sometimes forget that, in the midst of literature reviews and bench work, we are working to save real people's lives

@nattyiceboy I remember telling an old community college professor I was going to SFSU and she gave me a disappointing look. I wish I wasn’t so hard on myself. I mean, hey, I was going to college- which is an achievement within itself!

End the racist/classist/elitist mindset that UCs are better than Cal States. I went to a Cal State and ended up at a company full of UC & private school students. We are not less capable nor less educated just because our school isn't being bankrolled by wealthy alumni.
