Don’t think I’ve ever shared a picture of food on any form of social media before but the SeaBass and Cockles in @FishandBean Sligo last night was sensational.

It was a bitterly cold night tonight.
When arrived our food van was only just pulling up and we had many people who were already in line looking for sleeping bags, tents, hats, gloves scarves, and blankets saying that they were freezing. People were also looking around and anticipating the hot food. As we were setting up, we felt the uneasy tension of people who had been waiting but we quickly got settled and the soup run began running smoothly after that.
We had TRT -Turkish Radio Television fly over and visit us to do a little piece on MSOE which will be going up on Monday. We were very happy to have them with us and they covered the work that our organisation does and our goals and missions.
However, they were horrified to see not only the length of the que, but also the demographic of people who were waiting in it. They mentioned the horror of seeing elderly people, children, visibly impaired people and those with disabilities, as well as old people on zimmer frames all waiting patiently for some hot food and groceries. They couldn't believe that this is a reality that still exists for so many in 2024.
In spite of this we were grateful to see so many people in high and grateful spirits tonight. Seeing people show gratitude for the food and support given to them on nights like these makes it more apparent for us how our service and organisation is helping so many. We are grateful to be able to provide some support and alleviate the suffering and pain of people who are going through immense struggles and hardships.
A guge shout out to SAFCO Food Company who donate 100 falafel burgers to our soup run each week. The public are always mentioning how much they enjoy them and we are immensely grateful for such consistently from the restaurants which are helping us out each and every week.
Bras onion bistro also provided us with a lovely hot soup tonight which we have no doubt people loved and were in need of. Darbar are also kind enough to provide us with meals of chicken and rice each week.
We also still have treats coming in from families since the holidays have ended so our tea and coffee stands are accompanied by many cakes biscuits and sweets.
Also a huge shoutout to Amy who made 80 homemade cookies and brought them to us individually wrapped. She also stayed and volunteered with us for the night.
We cannot thank everyone who helps and aids us enough. We know we have a long journey ahead of us with the crisis we continue to face in Ireland. Yet the support from the Irish community allows us to stay resilient.
We are blessed and humble to have such generous contributions each week.
Our only hope is that one day the trials and difficulties will come to an end. And we have no doubt that this will happen through the continued collaboration of so many thoughtful and kind people.
Please continue to donate and help our organisation challenge the difficulties facing so many to this day. Through your support, we believe there will be an end to our journey.

“The first genocide in history where victims are broadcasting their destruction in real time in the hopes that the world might do something.

Such a fun few days in Nashville. Thank you to everyone who came out and showed such incredible support last night, and to my dear friend @outsidechild13 for joining me on stage to sing and urge the young people of Nashville to register to vote. Much love 🖤
