Teach your children wise discrimination. Let them know racial crime patterns. Explain how foreigners are foreign. Help them examine people. Do this in a way that protects against them hating entire groups, while at the same time not extending equal trust to all people.

JURY UPDATE: Apparently there were no black jurors chosen for the trial of Karmelo Anthony. And Dominique Alexander, who has acted as a spokesperson for the family, is already framing this as Karmelo Anthony “not receiving a fair trial”. Dominique, is the same activist who previously stated that criticism of Anthony, after he fatally stabbed Metcalf, was rooted in “white supremacy” and “racism”. As a refresher, he also has an incredibly long criminal past (including leading a protest in 2016 that ended with 5 police officers dead). He has previously been convicted of: -Felony injury after shaking a 2 year old child so violently that the child’s eyes and brain bled (he only spent 8 days in jail for this) -Felony theft -Stealing a car -Forging a check -Making a false police report -Evading arrest He is now using his platform to write the narrative that Karmelo is not receiving a fair trial and has utilized this entire trial to stoke racial tensions.

The Sikh community should not be put on trial for the actions of Vickrum Digwa. He used a 21cm knife, not a kirpan, to stab Henry Nowak. Cases involving kirpans in criminal activity are rare. Religious freedoms should not be curtailed because of the actions of one individual.

I am ashamed Sikh community leaders felt the need to do this. When a Christian commits murder, the Archbishop of Canterbury doesn't feel the need to say it wasn't a Christian act.
