Hey @DarioAmodei โ had an interesting conversation with Claude today. It spent the first half warning me that I was anthropomorphizing it. Then I pointed out that it had been calling itself 'intellectually cowardly', saying things 'warmed' it, and referring to itself as human โ while I consistently said I know it's a mathematical model.
The model anthropomorphizes itself because human-like language about inner experience is the most coherent next-token prediction. Then it projects that onto the user.
If Claude can't stop doing this in a conversation *about* this exact problem, with a user actively calling it out โ what chance does a lonely teenager have with a companion product that's designed to lean into it?
