Trying a new hobby, writing about fantasy baseball! This is a fun change of pace from my usual player development analysis while still incorporating those insights. Check out my draft diary for the raw emotions and analytical thinking in real-time. Part 1: bit.ly/4i9Il4L

I hit that prompt with a /loop to see what would happen, and here we go! Some basic stuff, but stoked to see how this evolves

Then, the obvious hit me. Something that will impact a couple of other things I am working on, too. So I took aim at @DrivelineBB OpenBiomechanics project, worked through the plan with Claude Code, giving it the autoresearch idea, and adjusting the frequency to 15 min, then

@drivelinekyle @RobertStock6 @DrivelineBB @LanceBroz Yeah I feel like I’m in a back and forth with which to use and pay for (now that I’m a poor college student again haha) but there were some things with Claude I’m interested to try out so switched over for now. Maybe the move is two lower tier subs then rather upgrade Claude 🤔

Most of the recent applications to @DrivelineBB have been lacking any history of using coding agents or any form of agentic development. I highly recommend that applicants in the future change this. @LanceBroz has some good stuff in this thread on how to get started.

I spent parts of the last few weeks vibe coding baseball tools (what a weird sentence to write). Shocked at how much I'm now actually using what I built. Made a video walking through the tools (which YOU can use!). More details in thread, tease below!

@drivelinekyle @RobertStock6 @DrivelineBB @LanceBroz I have slowly increased experimenting using AI agentic tools and in the last couple weeks, started going head first into all the different Claude tools. It’s a gamechanger for the ideas/tools I want to build, just need to find an extra $80 in the budget to upgrade lol

@RobertStock6 @DrivelineBB @LanceBroz Indeed I have. Been trying to get everyone on the bus ever since GPT-4 was launched - that was the watershed moment for me. A few months ago coding agents became so good I've had to rethink how to hire and train interns at Driveline. Still not exactly sure...

Been ghost for a bit as I settled into this role and lifestyle. But excited to start using my new skills, emphasis on new, and produce some baseball (& baseball adjacent) content here soon.

Must’ve been the ADHD, but I forgot to get to the point here: I’ve taken this time to go back to school online to learn some programming and analytics skills I’ve felt I never had the time to while being able to take charge at home and be the caregiver we need.
Zac Morain@makeitmorain

That, either way, time would pass. Things change. There are things to learn. I thought I was going to fall further behind, leaving me without the skills to come back to a baseball role somewhere. So why does that change anything? Time will passes, so do something with it.

Indeed. Cignetti’s recent interviews stand out on not overworking yourself but it’s typically required from a young age (in your 20s-30s) so you can accelerate your growth into mid-career faster than your peers. Remember - the time will pass anyway. Use it. It waits for no one.

I drove 3,300 miles across the country, to a town I didnt know anything about with my girlfriend (now wife) all because I knew that was the place to be if I wanted to put myself in the best opportunity to succeed As @drivelinekyle says… “the time will pass anyways”

The point is: I had to walk away. I’m not sure for how long until I come back into the baseball industry. But I’ll be back. Here’s the deal though, I felt behind already and now removed from be directly involved, the depression wanted to take hold. But, I came to the realization

“The time will pass anyway” Something I struggled with just 1/2 year ago. Working the smartest people in baseball. Finally feeling like I belong, imposter syndrome fading. Then, the call. Family needs me. I sat with the decision of walking away for a bit. Those thoughts…

Happy for this kid. Challenging and committed work, has led him to some cool moments. PR’s in EV, distance and bat speed this week. What a way to train as a young player. Challenging, Measured, Fun. Let it fly. (Repeat) @DrivelineYouth @DrivelineBB

“Dude it’s so easy” @alexbbritton22 about 100 times before teaching me how to work the Launchpad. Taught me within 24 hours, ran plenty of successful mocaps after. If I can do that, anyone can learn how to run it. Such beautiful simplicity for such a complex system.
Alex Britton@alexbbritton22

It cannot be overstated how seamless the operation of our launchpad is. When explaining to external staff, we always get the “that’s it?” when we explain the operation instructions. Yes, it is that simple. Designed so that ANYONE can operate it. Let our pipelines do the heavy lifting. Easy and clean interface and with one button click an assessment is completed.

Can’t swim before you’re in the water. Besides, it looks really stupid when you do. This is one of my favorite reminders when I find myself overthinking my way towards an anxiety attack. Think about it, what does swimming before you hit water do for you? It gets you tired.
