@ginamilan_ Weird tweet. At 15, Melania didn't even know English, lived in a foreign land, social media didn't exist and it was the early to mid 80s so maybe?

If Melania Trump was on social media dropping the N-word, it would be front page news for weeks and people would be calling for her execution. But since itโ€™s Zohran Mamdaniโ€™s wife, I guess itโ€™s different, right?

I maintain that the single most insufferable thing about New Yorkers is that they bewilderingly try to claim everything. This transcends politicsโ€”all New Yorkers do this. Yes, everyone has coffee. Everyone has convenience stores (nicer than your โ€œbodegasโ€). Everyone has what you have and itโ€™s usually cleaner and cheaper!

Trying to get someone cancelled for what they said when they were 15 was pathetic when the Left did it and itโ€™s pathetic when the Right does it. Thinking itโ€™s ok to do bad things because โ€œthey did it firstโ€ is the morality of a 4th grader.

They really ain't want anymore roster spots though? Like was it ever on the table? Because the seasons about to jump to 52 games and I don't think 12 is enough...๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ...But if they like it. I guess.

@raya4 Yeah that's the fine print in the full CBA. But given how everything else has trended, ownership probably dropped their requirement that it could only be young/rookie players, salary likely starts at rookie scale otherwise smart teams like NY would use it as an int'l stash.

I'm just curious what the restrictions are around developmental players, especially if their salaries don't go against the cap.

people are realizing now what a mistake the front office made last year. Trading away a first round pick which was a rookie deal for a player who couldโ€™ve started. Donating Smith away for free watching Dallas get a first round pick for her. ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿšจ

I think the ideal WNBA calendar would be mid-February to late August? From what I've heard the plans currently are to push back the end of season, although other sports are changing their calendars to avoid competing with football...
correlation@nosyone4

if the WNBA is going to expand to 50+ games they need to extend the calendar imo. there are conflicts depending which direction it gets extended, but I think it's best for the league and player health

... The WNBA is not only profitable but sitting on Scrooge McDuck levels of cash for this exact moment Good on the players for not blinking despite what men on the internet said But man? Maybe they could've gotten more? - 13-man rosters - 24/7/365 development - Unrivaled stake

More math to dig into on the WNBA. Especially - quickly expanding to 50, then 52 games - the first salary cap exception in the history of the WNBA for season enders But it's hard to see everything, the largesse of money being thrown and not think ๐Ÿ’ฌ

There's a lot more fun stuff here but this jumps out. REPARATIONS! A one-time recognition check to ALL WNBA vets & retirees based on years of service. Given that ~1200 have played, maybe 1000 are retired and maybe 500 played 5+ years โ€“ that's $15M right there. (4/4)

@dearicamarie More fine print, winners of the Finals get $60K. My understanding is that it's on top of the $11K merit bonus for winning the Finals. Lawyers, man. But it makes sense. (3/๐Ÿคก) x.com/i/status/20350โ€ฆ
mcbc ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ—ฝ@mcbc

$11,356 for winning a ring is bargain basement cheap. The MNBA gets $530K for the Cup, $800K+ for a finals win. But this provides a *huge* opportunity for brands to step in. bcc: Ally, YouTube, StateFarm

Boom. Again this is the framework, the players and ownership will vote on it separately. The players will be largely unanimous; same with ownership & board of governors with lolable hold outs. But there's some new, notable details here. (1/๐Ÿคก๐Ÿงต)
NBA Communications@NBAPR

The @WNBA and @TheWNBPA announced today that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new CBA, pending ratification by the players and the leagueโ€™s Board of Governors. The new seven-year CBA, which will commence with the 2026 season and run through 2032, represents one of the most transformational labor agreements ever reached in major professional sports.
