Welcome to MegaVision X page! We are a small independent studio working on old-school retro game projects. We are currently working on Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo - an open world retro RPG. A true spiritual successor of Wizardry 7, Eye Of The Beholder and Might and Magic, Mystic Land will offer old-school dungeon crawling, party creation and turn based movement/combat with a bit of "extra" added. The full prototype box for Automania Remastered (Physical Box Edition) is now complete! Here's what you'll be getting if you support us on Kickstarter (launching sometime next week!). We wanted to do something a bit different and recreate the days when games were released in boxes with printed manuals. Even though Automania doesn't really require a big hefty manual - or even a large box - we've included a nice booklet and an SD card safely tucked into custom-shaped foam, all inside a colorful collector-style package. As mentioned, the Kickstarter campaign for Automania Remastered will open sometime next week, so be sure to follow the pre-launch page to get notified the moment it goes live! kickstarter.com/projects/mvsof…

A prototype of the box for physical edition of Automania Remastered (ZX Spectrum Next version). It will come with a nice booklet, SD card and a few tidbits in the box. The game is done and we will soon open Kickstarter page for those that won't get the game for free with the KS3 Spectrum Next, and for those that want the physical edition of the game. A lot of progress was done on "Automania Remastered" for Speccy Next and PC, and we're glad to report that we are almost at the finish line and are already testing the game on a real machine. Remember, Automania Remastered will be free for all KS3 backers and will come preloaded on your brand new Speccy Next. Given that we were asked a lot about availability of Automania for KS1, KS2 and Next clone owners - yes, the game will be available for pre-order soon via the Kickstarter (and it will be released once the KS3 Nexts are shipped to the backers). You can play Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo either in old-school 2d step-by-step engine or a true 3d engine with smooth party-movement. It's up to you! And the best thing is - you can switch between engines instantly with a simple press of a "TAB" key. If you check our announcement, Mystic Land now includes a true 3d environment option with smooth movement and turning ;) Players will be able to select between the two engines (2d or 3d) at any time via simple press of a key. Raylib truly is a wonderful library for programming games ;)

The time has come to announce another retro project we’re working on in cooperation with Alternative Software! We’ve acquired the rights to remaster the legendary 8-bit Wally Week game series. Over the next year or so, you’ll once again be able to experience Automania, Pyjamarama, Everyone's a Wally, Herbert's Dummy Run, and Three Weeks in Paradise - this time with enhanced graphics, improved sound, and brand-new extra content. If you were a fan of Wally (and Herbert) back in the 80s, get ready to relive the fun all over again. But we won’t stop there. After completing the remasters, we’ll also be creating a brand-new Wally Week Adventure - the biggest ever - spanning multiple environments and even different time periods. The games will be developed for PC and for ZX Spectrum Next, with both enhanced and 16-color versions available (for all you hardcore retro gamers!). I have mixed feelings about it. While I like animated transitions, I also know that they add some complexity to make the movement feel right. Stuff like adding command queuing for example. If you can only move after the animation is completed the movement will feel worse then the instant step movement. I also noticed that the perspective seems different between the 2d and 3d versions. Quiet expected but worth mentioning. As a general rule of thumb: if a game offers both instant step and animated transition movement: one will be good and the other not so much. This come from someone who is coding and refining grid based controllers for over five years :) So making both options feel equally "good" may be more work than you imagine right now. On a side note: I noticed that you used the mouse to click on the looking glass icon and then have to move over to the 'ok' button. I hope that there are keyboard shortcuts for this and you only did it in the video to visualize it.

Big Announcement for Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo After numerous tests and experiments, we’re excited to confirm that Mystic Land will include an option for smooth party movements and turns. And we’re not talking about pixel zoom tricks or pre-rendered image pans - this is a true 3D environment that will make you feel like you’ve stepped right into a vibrant fantasy world. Prefer the classic old-school 2D grid-hopping style? Don’t worry - the 2D engine isn’t going anywhere. You’ll be able to switch between engines mid-game with a single key press (yes, it’s THAT simple!). Check out the attached video showcasing first 2 minutes of gameplay in the new 3D engine.
