@amcey3 @thestrayferret Where are these expensive cycle lanes on Hookstone road? All I’ve seen are narrow strips marked with white paint, not wide enough for cyclists to use safely.

@thestrayferret Driving down Hookstone Road, this week, on a road with 2 cycle lanes, where you would expect to see bikes. Not on these expensive lanes but weaving in and out of pedestrians on the pavement, of course!!! 😡

Hi all. Trying to think about ways to get our students more interested about languages. Other subjects do theatre trips, museum trips etc, any equivalent for languages? Apart from going abroad of course. Based in the Midlands.

@keanedunk Absolutely yes we need this in Harrogate. Anything to make the streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists and kids walking to school. Might prevent some drivers using residential streets as rat runs too.

20mph as the default speed limit - what do people think? A harebrained proposal or value for money that will improve road safety?

A cyclist towing a sign has been encouraging people in Harrogate town centre today to reduce their carbon footprint by driving less.

@amcey3 @jamiecriddle @thestrayferret Sometimes driving may be necessary of course, but many people could walk or cycle more than they do now. Currently the easy option is to jump into the car without considering the alternatives.

A feasibility study is being conducted on whether to install a zebra crossing at Harrogate’s Prince of Wales roundabout.

@ShirleyNeedham8 @MalcolmMargolis Yes! Saw this problem this morning with drivers speeding up before Almsford Bank, the crossing point there is not safe for children.

@MalcolmMargolis I agree, it can be very daunting trying to get across there. Also the crossing point on Leeds Road is used by school children who have to dodge the traffic

Prince of Wales roundabout #Harrogate. Unsafe for pedestrians by design. They either have to wait - and wait - for a decent gap in the traffic or, as here, rely on the kindness of drivers holding up traffic behind them while they make a run for it. Zebra crossing essential.
